Our sport is played in great numbers in four states in a country of just under 24million.
It is not the most popular sport in our country's biggest state/city ie Sydney, NSW.
It is small fry.
I don't think the professionalism and performance levels are.
Not sure too many Olympic athletes would contemplate drinking alcohol during a season.

So he presented to the CEO and the Head of Football of the club and they decided to hire him and it's a poor process? How so?
That's hilarious. So convincing, I wonder if Roo talked to Noble and Fagan about it.
Really poor process here.
It's a joke that Roo had no involvement because he wasn't at the interview. So he presented to the CEO and the Head of Football of the club and they decided to hire him and it's a poor process? How so?
Where has it been stated that Birdman was the only candidate interviewed? It's a joke that Roo had no involvement because he wasn't at the interview.
Roo was on the radio the other day and said he talks to Burton a lot.
The process was flawed because how did we go out to market looking for the most credentialed candidate?
So because Burton and Roo talk they're automatically guilty? Do you really think Roo is so powerful he can pull the wool over both Fagan and Nobles eyes and get them to hire Burton? It's a joke that Roo had no involvement because he wasn't at the interview.

Do you still believe in Santa? So because Burton and Roo talk they're automatically guilty? Do you really think Roo is so powerful he can pull the wool over both Fagan and Nobles eyes and get them to hire Burton?
And you and I don't know how they went to market looking for a candidate, so how can you possibly call it flawed?
No, but I don't automatically jump to conclusions on things I have no knowledge on or about.Do you still believe in Santa?

Certainly sounds like Brett has been employed not so much for his strength and conditioning prowess, but as much for his ability to coordinate our strength and conditions and medical/rehab programs and at the same time liaise with the coaching staff and David Noble in a meaningful manner. I think we'll see the club look to employ the technical experts under Brett to do their specific jobs, these are the guys you want to be top of their respective fields in fitness, strength, medical, Physio/rehab etc. Brett's employed because he has the football experience, as well as decent qualifications in the industry, as well as significant leadership skills (President of the AFLPA for 6 years should not be sneezed at).
Brett hasn't been employed for this role because he's the best strength and conditioning guy, his role is more than that, he's employed because he has a variety of experiences and ualifications that allow him to oversee the experts we get to perform their specific roles.
As much as I think Poulos is a big loss, people don't think his lack of experience in the game might have been an issue when working with the coaches? I suspect this was an issue brought up by Walshy mid year. We want to be able to headhunt the best people for each specific role, no matter whether their specialty is underwater basket weaving, synchronised swimming or AFL. Brett's role is to ensure these experts in S&C, Fitness, Recovery, Rehab/Physio, Dietetics, Medicine, Podietry, Psychology etc are all working to the same beat and understand their roles, and that there is good clear communication between these fields and the football coaches.
