No Goodwin should not be coming in early I feel. After all this club has started from year zero it seems.

Personally, I don't think you can get anywhere without stability assuming you have a competent coaching group, I believe we have that now (I am not saying it is the best though).

More importantly (imo) it seems that we have stability in the off field group as well, that is going to help Goodwin out a tremendous amount as well.

That said:-

• I am concerned about the communication in the club, not clogging the defense for St Kilda for example. That was a leadership issue to me. The benchmark teams do things like this.
• I am concerned that not all players are playing the team game. And this is something that has plagued the club for some years.
• I am not concerned by the effort in each game, and I understand we are building towards sustaining it. As we have all seen in previous years it was too hard for most of the team and they gave up in the first quarter or just couldn't. We seem to get to the third quarter at least now.
• I am not concerned by the loss to Essendon, Melbourne won against Adelaide last year only because they kicked like crap. It happens.

Paul Roos has turned over a considerable amount of players already, and Melbourne look like clearing out another 4 to 6 players at the end of this year as well. You do that, and that will impact your stability so I cut him some slack for that.

I really don't know what is going to happen next year though, which might be the toughest year for Paul Roos and I can see a lot of criticism coming his way. It looks very competitive next year. Saints, Bulldogs and Giants are all showing something this year.

I do hope that Goodwin gets a big say about who goes and stays on the list at years end though. And the only thing that really concerns me at this stage is our ability to retain the right players.

One thing about Barrett is he always gets his details right, having listened to MMM for years he is a good journalist

Whats wrong with the reporting, Adelaide would be stupid not to ask Simon Goodwin expecially in the circumstances

Mate, we have him under on contract, Adelaide won't be poaching him under a deal he has signed with us.

If extraordinary circumstances such as this hadn't come about people wouldn't even be mentioning it, Adelaide CANNOT get him off us, we can release him, the Crows can't get him unless we let him walk away from the contract he has signed.

Simple stuff, the tweet he has sent out isa complete dogs breakfast. It can't happen/wont without our blessing and why in gods name would we after putting two years into him here and our coach in waiting.

If we let him walk, we might as well just pack up shop and fold.

He specifically said on Access All Areas last year that Hird wouldn't coach Essendon in 2015.

If Ricciuto hasn't yet approached Goodwin he will, you can bank on it.

I doubt Goodwin would even consider it unless it was really laid on but even then Adelaide have plenty of options and a lot of time to get it right. Goodwin knows that so I doubt he'd be sentimental about it given the circumstances.

Dees, I expect, will hold firm in any case as they should. So whilst in the wash it isn't a big story Adelaide will definitely "sound him out".

Roos already came out this morning and said he's not going anywhere. So it doesn't matter what they do. --a new club probably approaches Clarko every year too. But he hasn't left, and won't leave either. (just as an example in terms of people being approached). The only coach I remember going was Ross Lyon, and that's because he knew Saints were a sinking ship and he was failing. So he walked into a good side, and now all of a sudden he's a 'good coach'. I think, (personally), that he's overrated. But... what would I know. xD

In fairness to Barrett- probably at times many people at Essendon would have beleived that to be fact. He shits me up the wall, but you're right, he's usually bang on the money with his info. Besides, who doesn't love a bit of speculation anyway?
