What this appointment tells me is that Ross isnt looking to renew with us once his contract ends.

Really? I'm not saying I think he will re-sign, just how does this mean he won't?

"Rock then coached North Ballarat in the TAC Cup for three seasons before stints at Melbourne (2005-06), St Kilda (2007-08) and North Melbourne (2009) as assistant coaches.
Rock had a year off in 2010 before coaching Greenvale in the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) and won successive premierships in 2012 and 2013.
He then joined St Bernard's in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) and capped a two-year stint with a premiership this season."

6 seasons since he's been involved at the top level and then straight back in from the amateurs.

And in those 6 seasons he coached his way to 3 premierships. It is not a bad cv at all.

If Lyon wants to renew his contract he will do everything possible to achieve a premiership. But I doubt he is even thinking about his contract right now.

You are clearly a gun psych, in touch with reading between the lines, but I am probably more inclined to think someone who played 222 games including a premiership, followed that up as an assistant at 3 afl clubs and then chased senior coaching experience which resulted in 3 premierships, may have something to offer.

Lyon is a professional and will set up his coaching panel the same way. He will demand a high level of performance and how are we to know if people will make good coaches or assistants (who would have said Simpson with virtually no key backs would be in a GF). Rock has played and won AFL and VFL premierships as well as coached premierships so have faith and for those thinking that McPharlin will be a back coach, I have a feeling that he will be a bit like Modra and keep away from the footy to do other things. Can we poach Justin Logmuir back?

I think Bond's work is going to determine our scoring potency next season more than Rock's.

I absolutely disagree. Our dirty clearance plan and hack it forward style needs to be superseded.

Ross now not re-signing lol................ yeah im sure all the eagles and hawks assistants want to leave their clubs atm. Pretty sure the only ones that go are going into senior coach jobs.

Who even knows if kirk was that great? Simon Loyd was probably going anyway with his profile in melb growing alot this year. He was even considered for senior coach jobs.

Im sure we will find a good addition to our panel. Lyon and rosich should have some good contacts.

Has been mids coach at Hawks last two yrs. if suma leaves to join mate woosha we need a senior assistant. He may still harbour trying for senior job and working with Lyon he would get the the ting compared with clarko's yang.

I'd be very happy getting Ratter, but I can't see him leaving Hawthorn and I don't blame him for not wanting to leave them.

Wouldn't be experienced enough for the position I wouldn't have thought. maybe as a development coach, yes.
