Ch 10 said Ben Hart would be the defence coach with Peter Jonas moving into a development role and assisting Paul Hamilton in the midfield. Matthew Clarke would be assisting the ruck coaching :thumbsu:

Yes, he was awesome at North. Our defence improved shitloads with Hart as the general back there, we had a lot of young kids too and they were very impressive.

Matty Clarke apparently also has a similar offer at St Kilda.

Whilst I have no problems attracting these quality guys back to the club, shouldn't we be addressing the midfield/forward line as our major concerns?

The rucks & backline are the 2 areas we are doing OK with IMO.

Really? Our rucks were pretty awful this year. We relied on Hudson's second efforts and roving to the opposition.

I havent a major problem with this , but I dont mind getting outsiders in, to freshen the place up and come with new ideas etc.

However....we need the mid field and forward coaches to come to the party as this is the one area we have been falling down in for years.

I would say he helped Gallman a lot back there. :)

Lucky he gets to continue working with him.

What happened to Mick Redden though?

Have not problems at all with these appointments, Clarke, being probably the greatest tap ruckman in recent history and already having worked with the boys would be invaluble, only bloke I would prefer would be Rehn.

A new defensive coach is really the last thing we need, but if Jonas moves into development and they don't move Hamilton back then we will.

I am still suprised to see that David Noble keeps his job, our forward structures are a joke and our forward line, whilst we have a couple of blokes on the way, has not improved much since Ayres left, where the midfield and Defence did, it is still the bane of the Adelaide Footy club, I would get a specialist in to do that.

Apart from this though, would like to see an ex-crows player in the box, we have enough "out-siders" as such in their allready.

You'd be thinking David Noble.

Don Pyke left last year and was a massive loss, as evidenced by us being thrashed in the midfield all year.

Agree with all of your points.

Outside blood brings new ideas with it, although I'm not saying that I'm unhappy with Hart's appointment.

Noble is damn lucky to keep his job IMO, while last year our midfield's work at clearances was as bad as it has been for many years.

I'm not sure we have got the mix right in the coaching box yet - all I can see is one different coach who is a novice who will also be over-ruled by Neil Craig.
