Good luck to him! I hope it goes well. I'm actually glad he got the job. We will have a massive shake up in the coaches ranks with alot of fresh ideas next year. I'd love us the chase someone who has been a senior coach before, preferably from the Hawks camp. Who is available? Ratten?
Rattens a great coach and didn't deserve to lose his position at Carlton.

GC could break there duck against us next year if we don't come up with some new ideas. Dew takes alot of inside info with him.
At least he didn't go to a contender.

One from left field, a good mate of mine who is a Norf premiership player and had a bit to do with Hawthorn, was full of praise for Rattan , also had massive wraps on the then Box Hill coach (2 flags in 3 years ) in Marco Bello , who is now the head development coach at the Hawks. Also Adem Yze has good wraps and another one from the Saints in Rohan Welsh.

Is a radical change in the coaching department something positive to take into 2018? or does it take a season or so to get everything in order?
You still have Horse, Blakey , Shaw and also Maxfield who has a lot of influence.

I'm on the positive side.

Kirky to our mids/stoppages will be awesome. Look what he did with Freo & Fyfe when he had a chance...

Shawry to the seniors is brilliant. I highly highly rate him. Reckon he's our next senior coach.

Not sure on StevieJ yet, worst case he'll bring something different. I rate Harley & he's given Steve the seal of approval so I'm thinking he'll be a pretty good addition though.

It's a good thing when your assistants are targetted for senior jobs. Well done Dew.

Now we can do something similar. Quite excited to see who we grab.

I like Nicks & with Hinkley extended until 2021 & Voss also an assistant it may be time for Nicks to venture out elsewhere.
Nicks does make sense. Former co captain, lived at Sydney for 10 years. Has been doing a great job at Port. The only strike against him is he took a new role at Port only this year

We seem to do better when we have a great unknown going into a season.

2012 - was just Longmire's second year and still seemed like that group was a year or two away from contending for a flag = we win the lot.

2014 - bring in the game's best forward alongside Tippett to shake up our whole forward line that worked in a flag year = win the minor premiership and reach a GF.

2016 - lost nearly 1000 games experience with players departing, plus started the year off with a handful of kids.. as well as the good old trade ban = win the minor premiership and reach a GF.

2018 - bundled out of the finals in a semi final disaster, presumably an influx of new faces given how many we've cut/retired already, and a shake up in the coaches box = ??

The years in between (13, 15 and this year) we went into those seasons with somewhat of a high benchmark set and we failed to live up to them. I give Horse a lot of flack but he's been bloody good at making sure this team keeps keeping on with no excuses. I think we're in safe hands, just not expecting a major improvement or change in game style

In 12 horse has some great assistants

Won't be attacking with horse calling the shots

18 man defence
This is a ridiculous statement mate, we were the 6th best scoring team this year so you can't say we don't play attacking football. We scored more points then the premiers!
