Suns hierachy approach Dew about a new deal during the pre-season and the two-time premiership player agreed but once the pandemic arrived both parties decided to hold off on putting pen to paper until the competition resumed.

Despite knowing he was staying, the club and Dew chose to hold of on announcing it

out of respect for their colleagues who were stood down due to COVID-19.

The selfless decision made Suns CEO Mark Evans and the members of Gold Coast’s board even more confident they had the right man to lead the Suns forward

No, but I'll take the guy that took a club on the verge of bankruptcy and merger and turned it into one of the most dominant teams in any era, which included 5 finals and 4 premierships in 10 years.

There's still no guarantees with Dew. There absolutely is with Clarkson.

In saying that, going after him while Dew is contracted is a bad look and I hope we don't do it. But if Clarkson himself put his hand up and said he wanted to take over the role and see how much he could achieve with the group we have, I'd be disappointed if we didn't say yes.
