look, it's a bad loss and a shitty year. but last night's game isn't the one to be calling for rocket's head. IMO he outcoached Buckley. pretty good moves with swinging players forward, held faith when we went down big early... when you're two best players (certainly most important) go down in the first half, you're just being biased to say that's on the coach. others weeks - go for it. but not this one.

I only really gave my Rant because I wanted to try and appease "SUNS". My heart wasn't in it. I sort of agree.

Modern day coaching is much less about game day and much more about preparation.

Who can help players improve in one or more areas (physical, skill, discipline, off-field activity, mental application, leadership etc).
Who can develop game plans that can win games with the players on hand (have to be able to make do with the list you have, not have a game plan the players cannot or will not follow; see the Blues for a recent example of a game plan that is competitive).
Who can help the team get ready to play their best football week after week.

These are far more important than making changes on the fly during the game. Would be Ok with a poor game day tactician as coach if we see player improvement, clear purpose on the field, and hard running and intensity most of the time.

Importantly, if the coaches need to give a spray every week during the games, then not getting the coaching right the rest of the week. Suspect we are well past our spray quota for the year which most likely means a major refresh on the horizon.

I am not really fussed who coaches us next year, as long as whoever it is can get these blokes to come out firing in the first quarter. That's the third game we've lost this season because of a bad start. We could easily be sitting at 9-7 if we had started better against Brisbane, Carlton and Collingwood.

I want Roos please. Clarkson would be a dream but no chance. If Roos can turn around Melbourne he can turn around us

dont forget Vickery is on his CV too
To be fair, Vickery was smart list management at the time. Roughead had cancer. Ceglar had a stuffed leg. McEvoy was in diabolical form. They desperately needed a key forward / pinch ruck during that trade period. Fortunately for the Hawks, Roughead got better, McEvoy has entered best-ever form, and Ceglar will be right to play next year... so they don't have to put up with Vickery's crapness for any more than two years...

I can't believe Eade & Ashcroft still think they are a chance of keeping their jobs. Both should stand down along with Clayton instead of clinging to power. The footy department rebuild needs to start now. Stop wasting the clubs time and money. The review is going to be scathing. Give one of the assistants the opportunity the lead.
Give the supporters something to get excited about.

Hallelujah sign me up for everything you just said
It's unbelievable there is any support for them out there and that they just won't do the right thing and go

You're presuming the supporters would get excited about a new coach
Don't count me in

ridiculous statement. why the hell would they stand down? what route of money would they have to have to do that?

believe it or not, it's not always the coach that is the problem.

Interesting that on one hand people want the assistants sacked then on another they want them to finish out the year. Sacking recruiter, coach and GM all in one go such a bad move. Especially during the season. Let the review run it's course and be done properly Evans might find something we are all missing.

DWD you are a great man but what Bazza said was absolutely spot on. Stick to your guns Bazza.
While I agree with Bazza37 states DWD is right there is absolutely no point doing it now.
It smacks of disfunction and unprofessionalism and makes us look even more unprofessional than we already are.
Let the review take its course. I have it on very good authority its going to be a sledge hammer.
Evans has been told its imperative he gets it right all the dead wood must be shown the door. If not taking the Club forward they are to moved on. AFL HQ not overly impressed with how their $$$ has been spent apparently.

Yeah true the review must take its course but I still totally back the sentiment expressed by Bazza.

So do I.
A really bad loss in Cairns possibly Evans might ask Eade to resign early getting him to declare he is not the man going forward. Though l think Eade is a proud man and will be dragged kicking and screaming.
I get your frustration it's a waste of time and inevitable but that's the way it is unfortunately.

If the list manager or recruiter isn't going to be there next year, then you can't wait until October to replace them. The others should see out the season even if they're goneski.

Agree , Would be crazy to let Clayton go ATM , he could be in deals from players at other clubs , contracts etc .
