Any of you folks getting Coburg membership for 2001?

If so, a Coburg game during the year may be an excellent opportunity to catch up for a beer (a Fanta for RF#1) and a chat.

At only $15 a pop, I think I will get a membership anyway - even if I do live 65km away from Coburg!

Great idea TT,

I am homeward bound and should be back by about round 3. I have proven the popularly held theory that I could not last more than a handful of games away from the footy! I really enjoy watching the magoos and it really gives you a feeling of involvement in the development of the younger players. I am hopeful that Scott Homewood may be able to bulk up and press for a spot in the senior defence. Is the membership option part of any package the Tiges are offering?

Yes Sister,

I received the application form when my membership card arrived mid last month. I think it is open to all members.

I doubt the crowds at Coburg will to too big this year. The decision to exclude any Fitzroy involvement from the club will only work to the detriment of Coburg.

Last season, as the "Coburg-Fitzroy Lions", the club was receiving strong home crowds, mostly made up of Fitzroy supporters. Similarly, more than half of the members were from the Fitzroy sector. Merchandise also sold well, and there were also numerous sponsorship deals which were a direct occurrence of the Fitzroy involvement.

IMO, Richmond should have been happy to leave the club as it was, and just run their reserves players through the team. It certainly would have meant that the club would have been a more viable entity in regards to off-field operations (ie: without Richmond having to pump their own money in).

After all, Werribee are the REAL Tigers of the VFA/VFL.

With that said, Coburg-Fitzroy was pretty fun last year, so all you Richmond supporters should at least give it a try. The people who run the club are committed to running an excellent 'local' club. It'd be nice to think that Richmond supporters would at least give it a go.

After all, where else can you buy a can of beer and run on the ground with your dog for the quarter time coach's address at the footy?

lol TT I preferr a Coke
