Sort of a premature post as Coburg don’t play GC until Sat June 12, (day before we play the Eagles) but I thought I would post this now. Yesterday on MTR Steve Price (also an avid Tiger supporter) said he had it on good authority that Karmichael Hunt will make his long awaited debut againsed Coburg out at Craigieburn.

If he’s on the money, it will be a massive day. The media frenzy will equal that of Cuzzes first game as they will flood in from the North. I doubt the crowd will be near Cuzzes, but we will get a few thousand easy. Will be interesting to see who lines up on him. I would assume as he is new to the game and 186cm and 90kg HBF will be his go for starters. Hope its on telly.:thumbsu:

Well considering he has spent the past 6 months playing rah rah in France, itg shows he's not that keen on being the best AFL player he can be.

They should have had his first game as an away game against Frankston, so when the crowd starts yelling out 'campaigner' he thinks they're cheering for him.

His 3 mill isnt counted in their salary cap, but how stupid will the AFL look if he is a dud!!!!!!!

Chelsea once signed a player on 60k per week and he never played a game.....

There are better players playing league who may be stars, he is not one, i beleivw it is only for his nemae in QLD, but there are a lot of people up here who hate him for when he turned his back on NZ.

Cooper Cronk would be a hundred times better.

He can't even bounce a footy properly. Take notice of that Swiss ad next time it's on.

Considering athleticism would be his greatest strength it's a worry that he struggles to bounce the ball without fumbling. And that's while he's jogging, let alone sprinting.

Personally, rather than potting the bloke, I strongly hope he succeeds for the sake of football.

I could think of nothing better than a long queue of NRL and other rugby code players angling for juicier AFL contracts...while rugby as a whole does a couple of 360's around the bowl of insignificance before being consigned to the shitter of history forever - where it belongs.

AFL becoming really strong nationwide is going to get a huge boost if rugby players can switch codes successfully, I hope Hunt and many that follow him do well.

Couldnt disagree mor RW, quite happy for GC (and even more so GWS) to be consigned to the shitter of insignificance in the rugby states. Im sure Id feel differently if I actually lived there, but being halfway in Canberra, I like that there are different codes played at each end of the island!

And being a staunch conservative I see no reason for that to change.
What is disapointing is the pisspoor support R & RL actually get from fans on game day. I assume because it is so boringly crap. Sucks to them!

I like how league fans always say they don't get many fans to live games but they get more people watching it on TV.
If you add their crowds and tv numbers it still does not come clos to the @FL's numbers.
Dumb bumsniffers.
I still think he is a waste of time and resources.

It would make the sport better to have much bigger talent pools of players in QLD and NSW to choose from - kids who grew up at least playing both codes, or even better, just Aussie Rules.

Look at some of the freakish talent which has come out of QLD in the last decade and greatly enriched the game - how much better would it be if they were producing players drawn from 60-70% of their available young talent, rather than maybe 5% like it currently is?

It's laughable, the whole sport's a joke. Even Origin makes me yawn these days.

Rugby League died years ago. The current game known as Rugby League is not Rugby League.

As for Union, apart from the fact we're in in the Pacific where it is a near religion in parts, Rugby Union is the second most popular football code in the world behind Soccer, it offers bona-fide international competiton surpassed in football by only Soccer, that's the ace up it's sleeve and as such it will never die.

The only reason Union is more popular than league or Rules is all the snobs got posted to these exotic places from Engerlund and took their snobbish stuck up game with them they sailed on the coat tails of Soccer.
Some of the countries like Indo China area hated it, hence they don't play it anymoreOnly Argentina and sometimes Uraguay play it, after the whole of South and North America once played Union, It is fading as well.
