Perth: Best Wishes (Freo), Hylin (West leedy) Auction Rooms (North Melbs), St Ali (South Melbs)
Hah!

I used to live really close to Auction Rooms and the vibe in there was always so weird. I've never been able to afford going out for coffee and I don't eat breakfast. But whenever I went, there was this weird feeling in the room that they were about to pack everything up and go home... at 11am...

Coffee is s**t anyway. It gave me headaches and dizzy spells toward the end. Shakin like a leaf. Mild paranoia. It was seriously not that much worse than smoking weed or waiting for a bick to kick in.

Standard 12oz (no idea why they do imperial units) coffee in Perth is about $4.50.
Considering the demographic of coffee drinkers and the geography – ya know, 20 year old Australians who probably spell it 'thru' – how many people would go 'can I have a 12 ozzzzz almond flat white?'

I should ask one of the nearby coffee shops how many people still order 'normal' stuff these days. By normal I mean flat white, cappuccino, long black etc. just made as it comes.
I drink long blacks. If I'm out and sitting down for coffee I might go for a long macchiato. Go out for breakfast far less than I used to these days though.

I assume the extra Zs are for phonetics? Hadn't really considered that people say it that way and don't know that oz means ounce let alone what a fluid ounce even is. Will be on the look out now.

My cafe will be purely metric. All you progressives and your 1960s system of measure can GTFO. No coffee for you! Come back, one week.

I drink coffee for the heat/warmth and the caffeine rush and now for the socialising

Instant, servo, barista, franchise. if it says its coffee then I am there

Mostly white with 2 or 1 sugar. Flat white, long black if I am reading a paper. Chai Lattes are not so favoured. Cappucinos used to be the fancy drink when in Myers/David Jones in the 70s but now a cappucino is a waste of hot water because its half froth

Dont mind the sugar coffees at Gloria Jeans and have worked my way through most. Irish Nut Creme is good as is Very Vanilla Latte.

If I see a man bun on the barista I keep walking

I used to like Auction rooms alot more before St Ali took it over to be fair!

It's interesting how things affect people differently (different brain chemistries ect ect). Coffee doesnt even really wire me, just makes me feel slightly more awake.

Have never ordered a coffee with sugar in my life. Black coffee with sugar maybe it works but I find the sweetness of the steamed milk is enough for a white one. Have seen people get coffee with 3 or 4 sugars which is like getting a nice steak and smothering it in tomato sauce.
I started out latte on the coffee (get it, latte = late), and started by chucking 2 sugars in it.

After a few years, i started popping equals into it...and now i am onto no sugar at all.

People who add sugar need to get in the bin

I was a latecomer to drinking coffee and still don’t drink it at home or daily , but yeah I’ve never had sugar with my coffee. The milk alone makes it sweet enough.

I used to be able to have a coffee at 10 or so and go to sleep at a normal rate. Within a few weeks it just started kicking my ass. Don't miss it.

Does hot and humid Queensland do good coffee? I don't go to the tropics and feel like a hot milky drink.
Weird thing, As backwards as Queenslanders are, they make the best coffee. and it's not even a close contest. Im sure Melbourne boast more coffee shops. But the Coffee in Brisbane is just. Well i never had anything lower then decent.

After travelling through Europe I am convinced that the best coffee is found in Australia
Reykjavik and a lot of those Nordic Countries are just ******* amazing for coffee

As they should be as Iceland it costs about 9 bucks for a coffee.

I've never had sugar but I hate when people whip out the "I'm sweet enough already" line. GTFO.

I've never eaten gravy for the same reason. Get a beautiful steak or other meat and cover it with cheap nasty gravy? Pass.

I have to agree. Coffee in tropical places just tastes better. And I’ve had it in every climate. I wonder if its to do with the coffee bean growing in tropical places and so its just naturally better ? Dunno. Obviously great places in all cities but i find the hit n miss ratio is heavily skewed in favour of more hits than misses.

Soy milk and coffee is the best combination.

Or NZ.
Wellington had excellent coffee everywhere, and in New York NZ baristas are highly sought after.

Probably the same people who say 'Sex?' 'Yes please' in survey forms.

Good gravy is amazing, but doesn't really belong with steak. Pan juices from roast lamb or beef turned into gravy is the best.

Not only Brisbane, are some excellent places in Cairns, on the Sunshine Coast and even the Gold Coast.
