I don't really see what the problem is with this Mundy poster...

Play the ball, not the man.

Agreed, regardless of who he may have been in a past BigFooty life.

Relax fellas.

Very true, but that isnt the issue I was addressing.

Clean footy is what wins games, the ability to break from congestion is so valuable. It's very hard for West Coast to do that with Priddis, Fletcher and Ebert rotating on the ball, they may win the footy first, but then they have to get rid of it quickly. Hands are faster than feet.

What happens? Basically it's a game of hot potato because none of your mids have that dash, that quick first 5 steps to give themselves some space and set up space for their teammate.

Pace is a massive issue West Coast face at the moment.

This is lame. I suggest you review the tape, learn something about the game and stop being so precious.

I think if you review the time trials for a lot of West Coast Eagles players you will see that there a lot of quick players in the team. If you are trying to tell me that Kerr doesn't have pace - in your reference to midfield players - then you are clueless.

Very few players, Gary Ablett, Chris Judd and Ben Cousins aside, have the ability in close congestion to break away. Pace is not the issue as 90% of players will handball off to a player in a better position. Priddis regularly wins ball from clearances but today certainly wasn't one of his better performances.

I suggest you watch the tape, think of something original and insightful to say, and move on to your own board.

You've named one, who didnt play today. Kudos.

The point still stands, in that midfield there are no players who can break into space quicker than their opponents. I'm not simply talking about tucking it under your arm and taking on 2 or three, just the foot speed to break clear of your opponent.

I.e The ability to spread from congestion.

Read above, you clearly cant grasp the concept.

You are having a go at us for slagging off a Fremantle supporter? You have issues.
I'm not the one who is always looking over my shoulder at Freo and what their supporters are doing. I don't know why you even acknowledge them? it's their job to have a chip on their shoulder and build this silly rivalry. The derby is their GF and bragging right because they can't compete on the real stage. What's your excuse?

I can idiot because it is not only pace that can clear from congestion, it is also the ability to be able to dodge and weave, thereby evading one player making another opposition player leave your team-mate and run towards you, thereby creating a free player. Priddis, Ebert and to a lesser extent, Fletcher, can do that, as can Scott Selwood.

Every club has a mixture. West Coast are no different. It is easy to over-analyse a loss, which is what you are doing.

I don't have the stats on hand in regards to Eagles players pace over 20 metres, as I don't work for a club but they have been posted. When you have a largely inexperienced midfield you are going to get beaten in centre clearances when you are dominated in the ruck as was the case today.

This is the first time I have ever replied to a Fremantle supporter and the last. As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with you that the derby is their grand final and their bragging rights.

Again, you are only thinking from the attacking viewpoint.

There is also the issue of being able to stay with your opponent from the clearance, do you really back Priddis, Fletcher and Selwood defensively from a standing start with their opponent?

As always, what a classy reaction from the West Coast faithful, a valid point is raised and a volley of crude remarks are tossed back.

I wont tar you all with the same brush but this has been pretty dissappointing from a junior poster Im thinking.

Bad Luck, next week will be here soon enough.

I thought Swift played well late in the game for Souths, he'd help that obvious pace problem.

Honestly we got out lucked I feel we won 3/4 quaters today the shit they were pulling hasnt been seen for 8 years at that club.

I think Melbourne would have beat a team of Garry Abletts today.
Don't read too much into the loss.
I think we all know where we are at.

The upside of today is that; while we may not get a PP, we'll most likely get a top pick. With every loss, our club is closer to putting our seniors out to pasture for the year and the injured into surgery. This will further our chances of adding to the list of young talent we have at years end.

OMG, the first two pages are absolutely embarrassing for this board. There was nothing wrong with Mundy's first post, about the team being exposed for pace today. We were.

These kind of responses are insulting to other Eagle supporters on here:
Hey Mundy, **** off and return to your own boring board. As if we need the opinion of a Fremantle supporter - your team is the most underperforming club in the AFL competition in its short pathetic history.

It was nothing to do with pace you idiot.

Lol. If you cant acknowledge that fremantle is basically considered a unsuccessful piece of cr*p excuse for a AFL team the your either blind or know nothing about footy.

And for F**K sake change your username. D Mundy is a horrible excuse for a AFL player and to have him as a username tells how much of a complete tool you are.

How does supporting another team impair his ability to analyse a game?

Play the ball.

-------------------------------------------------

On topic, yeah Fletcher sealed his fate with today's performance, sadly.

I agree ,we seemed slow and sluggish today.Melbourne opened the game up well.Last years draft we recruited more pace but only Nicknat played today and he was quiet as we all know.Hopefully next year we will be seeing Ash Smith get a run along with Shuey and more of Swift ( was disappointed he was dropped). This years draft hopefully we get abit more pace.As for Mundy's opinion I think he was correct but we do have some pace coming through.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion!
Today we showed were we are with our young list.Young sides like ours are inconsistent,we did not throw in the towel though.

Overreaction too Mundy.

And unless Fletcher's disease is infective then i doubt he was the problem.

People are arguing with PavforAA. I mean seriously.

I don't mind trolls. What annoy are the idiots that fall of them.
How is he trolling? He's at least making some points worthy of discussion. I don't know who or what Pav4AA is, but if Mundy is it then you're clearly overreacting.

PAv4AA is a small-dicked Freo supporter with a monster chip on his shoulder so spends all his time on this board dampening the ego's of some who clearly have blue and gold tinted glasses, or conversely, trolling softc***s.

He had some valid points that could have been discussed rationally. If Pav4Aa's chip got to big he would have just got booted.

Mundy says our team has pace issues wow how insightful. Oh yea thats right the club already figured that out last year and drafted accordingly swift, smith, nata, shoe.

I wasn't that unhappy with how we played considering terrible ins and a few things went against us could have won with Cox playing

Nah, we didnt lose cos Fletcher played...we lost as per planned by the selection panel. We can all say it was a master stroke to play Nicnat in the ruck alone versus Hawks, with Lynch helping, cos the Hawks have no ruckmen! The board knew this, they also knew that Melbourne DOES have good ruckmen. The decision to not play Seaby was definatly a ploy to allow Nicnat to get pasted and "learn" from the loss.

I have no doubt that the selectors said "lets lose this game for the good of our future". this Shytes me to tears, i dont give a rats about the future when i am watching the game, it just makes me fume when i know we should have won the game!

Also, the rest of the team need a rocket up the clacker for the piss poor accountability during the game. Bloody awful game, it was like a bunch of Brent Stakers were playing for us!

Stupidity. If we had 22 Brent Stakers, 2 of them would have blinders that win us the game.
