I started this thread in the Freo board but I think it needs more "airplay".

Now take it how you want to.

But when a young 6'5 ruckman has his head down attempting to pick up the ball. The ball is then cleared from the area and Colbert who had not intention of gaining possesion of the ball shirt fronts the young ruckman, while his head is still down.

Now in my books that is considered a charge.Or at least a free kick.

But neither was handed out.

Its time the Tribunal learnt the meaning of consistency.
THe question now is had that player infringing been Barry Hall and the player copping it been Matty Loyld.Would the outcome be any different. And would this matter be up before the tribunal.

Cowardly acts like this cannot be ignored.

I thought he got cited on video, ever since then I have heard no discussion at all.

It deserved at least a free kick.

Definite Charge

Same as the Pickett one on the Hawthorn player last year.

Have to protect the guy going for the ball over the man whose only intention is to inflict physical damage with no regard for the ball.

Kangas are thugs. Have been for a long time.

Longmuire on the field or off the field...did anyone notice the difference anyway?

Colbert not charged? This is clearly an anti-West Australian conspiracy by the people of Victoria.

Saw it on TF last night. Looked exactly the same as a certain hit in the GF last year, the only difference being the victim wasn't stretchered off. Colbert lined him up from a long way off and never once looked at the footy. Of course that's just mine and their blind hatred of all things Nth speaking. Couldn't possibly be an objective assesment.

Also makes a mockery of certain North fans (Hi Michele!) bleating about JJ's bump on Johny Blakey last year. Blakey at least wasn't head down over the ball.....

Oh well, Colbert's just lucky he didn't do it against poor Melbourne, otherwise they would've been whinging about it for the rest of the year......
I guess it's only acceptable for fatboy ox to indulge in that sort of behaviour, just ask JJ...

Colberts charge WAS rough, but there's NO chance in hell he'll get 4 weeks... Bias in motion?

Would you be bleating so much if you hadn't got your arses whipped ? Of course not. Tell it to someone who cares.

If 'bleating' means asking for a fair deal and protection for the man who is over and playing the ball, against some heartless coward with no eyes for the ball, and intent in only injuring the man, then yeah I think I would.

And your mature arguement in the 'for' head high charges of 'tell it to someone who cares' reeks of someone without an arguement, do you care to justify the action with an adult arguement, or just maintain your primary school like defense?

If he was reported for charging he would most certainly get off as that does not constitute a charge. If he was reported for Unduly Rough Play then he would certainly get suspended.

I saw it on TF last night and am surprised that he hasn't been booked. As suggested by Dave, the circumstances were very similar to those involving Long in last years Grand Final.

Long was rightly suspended, so should Colbert.

The so called charge did not make contact with his head, if you look closely. End of discussion.

Deserved a couple of weeks I reckon...considering some of the other ridiculous suspensions handed out this year.

Regardless of whether he hit him in the head or not, it was still high contact that was premeditated and dangerous to the player. What's it going to take, someone getting seriously injured before something happens?

Didn't look as pick a hit as Pickett's on Krummel at Waverley though, that was the hardest bump I've ever seen, you could quite clearly hear the whack from the other side of the ground.

Obviously you were not there the day Greig and Card collided on the outer wing at Kardinia Park... That was the hardest bump I have ever seen... but Pickett's was one of the best I have ever seen... straight down the middle... and Krummel should have realised it could happened the ball was being contested for... just like Vander and Brereton... I love a great bump... Johnson on Blakey (2000 night GF) was pretty good... but not in the Pickett class...

Colbert should of been reported as should Clint Bizzell against Brisbane a few weeks ago.
That is more dangerous than a jab in the stomach .

after 2230 posts you try to be serious... thuck... you would have more luck posting under another name...

another incident from the game caught my attention... Pickett gave Belly a friendly slap in the Bread Basket... after belly started to mouth off... and the ump gives a fifty metre penalty... yet three weeks ago Buckley give Wayne a friendly slap across the face and what... no free... nothing except an umpire being rude to the greatest player to ever play the game...

And they wonder why people think they are over paid....

All people want is consistency from the AFL and tribunal. No matter how much discussion takes place. Nothing ever seems to be done about this problem.

When it comes down to who is reported/suspended ? It definately depends on who the player is, which team, how much media it receives!

SAD BUT TRUE

What Tedbot says is certainly true, there is no consistency in the tribunal.

It get seven worse coming up towards finals - a player from a finals contender can get away with murder in the last few rounds.
