indie bands are indie bands for a reason, just not good enough.
Flawless logic.
Well thought out.

See, that is just a rubbish quote. You're basically saying that you refuse to like any music that is enjoyed by the public. Try judging music on its merits rather than its popularity.

Coldplay are just dreadful, they're stuck on replicating early Radiohead and even dumbed down jeff buckley to a certain extent. They begun by making an inferior copy of an established sound and have never moved on. They are shit.
You should really pull your head out of your arse!
I'm saying, and maybe not well, that mass produced popular music like the band that is the subject of this thread is the type of music I do not enjoy.
Of course there is music I like that is popular to say that you do not like any music that is popular would take the logic of a 15 year old or someone very close minded.
Have you ever hurt yourself jumping off your high horse?
Sanctimonious twit.
But anyway, if you just worded your statement incorrectly that's fine. You made it sound like you didn't like any music that's "popular", which I think is a bit elitist. But if you just meant "pop", fair enough.Again, comparing Coldplay to Radiohead.. I just don't get this. Is it because they're both English? I guess a couple of songs from The Bends sound like Coldplay but overall there is nothing really to compare..I'd put Coldplay along side bands like Snow Patrol, Keane and Travis. Radiohead I can't compare to any other bands because they seem to reinvent themselves every album. Maybe Pixies could be comparible but i don't knowThe one redeeming feature of Coldplay (or at least Martin) is that he'll attest to wanting to be like Radiohead.

I don't get comparing radiohead to the pixies
Anyway, I'm not saying coldplay are anything like radiohead but chris martin tries to copy radiohead's early sound.
I agree with you that radiohead are more like travis and stereophonics![]()
He did say maybe....
I can't see it for the life of me. The Pixies are one of my favourite bands of all time but they had a formula and stuck with it in the main part. Radiohead chop and change with each album, you never know what you are going to get. Kind of like one of my other favourite bands Ween, every album is different and on some albums every track is a different genre. I like that variety.
I didn't read where he compared Travis to Radiohead though?
Hey Nicky I think it was you that turned me onto Cat Power, THANK YOU, if it was. I always assumed it was just a chick but did a bit of research and bought an album and really enjoyed it. Will buy more.

Plugger35;21805657 I like Cat Power too but I'm pretty sure that's really just Chan Marshall with studio/guest musicians rather than a proper band. She's a seriously talented singer/songwriter said:I've heard conflicting information re her performances. I like her voice though.
I have seen Cat Power 3 times.
The first time she was on something. Did not complete one song in the first hour. She started about 8 different songs but stopped to complain about not feeling the best. I went home. Equal to the worst gig I have ever seen.
The second time that I saw her, she was off the drink and drugs and played an incredibly upbeat set with a swinging horn section. It was like what I imagine an old Stax/Volt soul revue would have been. Brilliant.
Then the last time I saw her, once again. Still off the grog but the set was 2 hours of very very slow versions of all of her songs. It was soooo boring. Even allowing for her incredible voice, and live her voice is amazing. Also allowing for the fact that Jim White was on drums, it was a gig that showed her talent but ultimately left me bored.
I agree with you about Nina Nastasia Nicky. Brilliant talent, but I only have the album she did with Jim White at this stage. Will need to check out more of her stuff.

Looks like the karma bus ran me over finally today.
Some chick asked me if I liked their last album, and when I said I have never heard any of their albums she pulled that 'ohhh, you don't know what you are missing out on' kind of attitude and kind of rolled her eyes at me.
I larfed.
Wow - This Familiar Way in particular was amazing. Amazon will be getting some business as a result.![]()
