Cole is out of contract and collingwood picks where he goes.

The dogs would like to Offer you Shane Birss for Richard Cole

What does collingwood think of this?

I still have no ********en idea who Birss is!!
Tough as nails mid fielder who can not get a game due to cooney, girffen, west, cross and johnson in the dogs mid field.

in 2 of his games this year he played 61 mins for 16 touchs and 34 mins for 11.

I rated him a lot more then Cross last year but Eade gave Cross the chance and not birss.

Three questions then;

1. Can he kick. And by kick, I mean straight. And fairly long.

2. Is he quick enough? And by quick, I mean quick enough to maintain the distance between himself and a chaser.

3. Can he kick?

I saw him play in the VFL - nothing special.
Not quick, not smart - so we'll probably pick him up
Everyone looks ******** with Phil Cleary commentating!

I presume he's playing on Sundy with Brad Murphy, so I'll have a look.

1. 6/10
2. 6.5/10
3. 6/10

I was not overly impressed by him.

His kicking would not be his strong point, his not a bad kick but he aint no gilbee.

He is quick enough to chase some one down and is a great work effict and never gives in, on the weekend in the vfl he had 28 or so touchs and kicked 3 goals.

Has spent some time at FF for the dogs.

I'd compare him to Dane Swan, but more of an inside midfielder.

Birss isn't slow or poorly skilled, but neither are strengths of his either. He's sort of middle of the road in those respects, but a very, very good ballwinner.

He'd be our best pure inside midfielder after Paul Licuria, and he'll only be 23 going into next season. Licuria will be 28 next year, and he's had two knee reconstructions, so I don't know that he'll be going too far into the future.

More mixed reviews than American Beauty (which by the way sucks arse)!

Will have a look on Sundy, under AFL-ish pressure and form me own opinion.

Cheers boys!

Birss and a middish pick would suit me. Cole has a bigger upside, not to mention backside, but chances are he will never life up to his potential. With Birss, you know what you are getting plus I think he will benefit from a change of clubs.

No they wont :D , collingwood doesnt need a player like birssy :D .
And we will through in a big footy poster in that deal.

sam power is a option but we would try and give you shane birss first then offer sam power.

And Murruy i was just wondering how come you gave him 6 out of 10 when he was best of field, he is a step above VFL level and is our 23rd best player, the player that comes when some one is out and does well for the side but always seems to be dropped.

cole only played around 8 games this year, his trade value is no where near what he was taken.

But I am allowed to have an opinion on what I saw - right?.
If he was BOG then the rest of the team is crap.
I thought he was just average,

And if he is so good why do you want to get rid of him - why not keep him?

We have way to many of his type, cross does the job he would do his not a player to run of half back.

That ok if you think the rest where crap its just a lot of people including me said he played a great game

If cole wants to go to the Dogs swap for Sam Power so we can then make a move on his brother Luke all the boys want to do is play in the same side.

If we are getting Sam Power to get Luke we are stupid, however I think Sam Power is worth a punt. Our list needs a player like Sammy. Bulldogs have a lot of players like Power (loose outside half back flankers) and want a backpocket who can mind forward pockets without worrying about rebounding so much. 2004 saw Cole take the best small forward each week and was rarely beaten heavily. I'd be gunning for Power and a 3rd round or even a 4th round or just for Power.
