what game were you watching? col's disposal efficiency was up over 80%, not the greatest, but solid and better than a lot of his team mates... and his last quarter on the half back flank was great, some of his best football... may have found his spot...

Sylvia needs to improve. For a No.3 selection in 2003 Draft now in 5th season of senior football Colin Sylvia is a disappointment. Sylvia taken ahead of McLean is well behind McLean.
In my opinion yesterday Sylvia was disappointing against North. He made no real impact on the game. He wasn't terrible but wasn't excellent either.
Anyway I wish Col Sylvia all the best and hope he improves to reach the level he was drafted to be. A pure A grade or elite footballer is what a club wants from a No. 3 draft pick.

Buy some glasses mate. Sylvia was the only one able to hit a farward hard and low. Really, his work in the second half was the reason we very much stayed with North and didn't get smashed.

His TAC cup coach Rod Mcphereson decribed him as one of "the most competitive beasts" he has ever coached after his massive season when he got drafted. Just seems to me he has got another 20% of talent and work ethic to show us but buggered if I know why he doesnt want to tap into it.

I didn't watch the last quarter but I wish I did now. he didn't do too much up until 3 quarter time but I reckon he is improving and is becoming more of a presence, but it's hard to do in a 50 point losing side. Maybe is Col was in a winning side, and hasn't had any of his injuries in the past seasons and still wasn't doing anything I would understand your complaints.
But to me, mclean is even worse, I haven't seen him do anything since the 2006 final against st kilda.

He had some good games last year. People seem to forget them quite quickly. He got Brownlow votes vs Essendon and dominated vs Collingwood. There were also some other reasonable games spread throughout an injury depleted year.
We all know you're the leader of his cheer squad...
Seems to enjoy the life of swanning around in tight pink t-shirts and partying more than he does applying himself to football.
He's a naturally talented footballer who fails to display that talent on a regular basis, so therefore he's a major disappointment.

He doesn't do anything for us on field. What a waist of a no.3 draft??!! what were the selectors thinking?
The only reason they picked him was because he was the only already strong built hard fast 18yr old player. Now everyone in that draft has over taken him in growth and he is 'Useless'!
Players Melbourne could of picked over 'Sylvia' 2003 draft.

Surely you are having a laugh? If you're going to throw those names up, why not Llane Spaanderman, Fergus Watts, Zac Dawson, Raphael Clarke, David Trotter?
Don't say that we wasted our pick in the draft that year, when only a handful of players selected after him are proven to be better than him. If I were to trade Col for any other player in the draft, there would be 3 that I would change definately- Jed Adcock and Sam Fisher, Heath Shaw was father-son and possibly Stanton, but I don't rate him. The rest are all spuds.
Get off your "he's a number 3 draft pick, he needs to step up' bandwagon. It was a very weak draft, and with the exception of Cooney and Brock, the other top 10 picks have done less than Col has. Hell most of the entire draft has done less than Col.
Be thankful that at least Col is still playing and in our best 22, because there aren't too many left from that draft who are.

At least give Sylvia a year under Bailey before some of you guys hang him. Just remember the way TJ is playing for Brisbane is no accident, he is really performing now compared to his up and down history with the Dees. The Lions are coaching him the right way and if he had stayed with Melbourne under the previous coaching regime he would never have improved. There is a lesson out of this and puts our coaching for the last decade into perspective a bit. We have a new coach this year who hopefully will make the players more accountable. Just give it time and hopefully Sylvia will start responding.
Its been well documented that Col has had pretty significant injuries and I don't think that the negativity that has been written about him on this thread is true or warranted. He has only just come back into the side for crying out loud and it will take him a while to get into full stride - plus he has had the difficulty of playing in a team whose performance has been significantly poorer than any team in recent memory so of course its going to be difficult to look like a "number 3 draft pick" when the players around you are under performing.

If turnovers are your basis for trading "the dud" then you couldn't be more wrong. He's one of the few that can hit a target. Under your criteria there would be a long list on front of him in terms of getting the arse from the club.
