With no due respect, those that underestimate Goldy have NFI. He has played nearly 150 games of AFL. You don't do that without being a reasonably good footballer. Sure he is not in our top 15 or so, but his versatility and 100 % commitment to his task make him a valuable member of our squad. If fully fit I would expect Goldy to be pick week in week out this year regardless of how well Marsh, Maynard etc develop. He can fill so many holes I can't see the Match Committee wanting to leave a fit Goldy out.
Plenty of footballers with 150 games of football or more have been dropped and delisted from football clubs. And plenty of versatile and 100% committed footballers play in the VFL.

Goldsack has been a warrior for a very long time, and is rightfully a premiership player, but I think that others will go past him this year, and he will become depth.

The Goldsack discussion is interesting.
I think it will be a defining year for him.
He either plays his best footy, which can be very good, or if he drops off the kids will pass him by.
Either way, its good for the Club

Lol I used the word women I must be sexist  that's only in your imagination and your mind only that thinks silly stuff like that you just made up to suit your self again. #kappoalwaysthinksheisright lol #Na I'm a hypocrite with depression please don't insult me again lol. The women in my family say hi and send you a lol and would ripp you a new one city boy :p
Seriously man this vendetta you have on Kappa is getting kind of ridiculous, we should all have the ability to post our opinions on this board without getting harassed for it. You may not like what he has to say but at least be constructive about it rather than just trying to bully him into submission all the time.

Give me a spell on the back of this logic we should have drafted Farran Ray! I mean he's played 200 games, GF's and he's a survivor that can play all over the field so he'd surely be a lock considering your criteria for Goldsack!!

On a serious note the sooner we get away from gifting blokes games, ahem Blair, if they aren't contributing the better and to say Goldsack should be picked regardless of how others are developing is ridiculous.

If he's the best option and in form he plays if not he misses and the latest setback doesn't help his cause.

Does anyone see the Caff getting game time in the seniors this year?

From the photos he's looking very robust, and finished the year pretty well in the VFL, so hopefully has shaken off the last concerns from his knee.

He's not fast sure, but he's very experienced and knows how to get to the right places and is a handy tagger.
With Crisp bursting on to the scene and the addition of Treloar/Aish, I just don't see Caff being a starting 22 player this season. Not up forward either where he's behind Elliott, Fasolo and Howe.

Im curious as to why we kept him
Probably most of us are. He's just one of those lucky players who's been able to stay on an AFL list for many years without ever looking like making it as a player. Being a tall KP type has obviously helped him survive this long, throw in the unavailability of Keeffe and the fact that last year's draft crop wasn't well regarded and here he is preparing for season number 5.

He would have to be aware that his time must be nearly up, and that he needs to produce something this season. It would have been at least a bit encouraging if we had heard that he was having a really big pre-season, yet he's hardly been mentioned at all!

Not quite what i meant. I suspect if Marsh and Maynard are performing well they will get games with Goldy, not instead of Goldy. I think people underestimate how important a FIT Goldy has been over the past few years. His ability to go almost anywhere and play a role has been critical at times.

Time will tell. If he is passed by the young kids it will be good for the club. Why a lot of these kids are likely to be better 'footballers' they may not provide the versatility that Goldy does. He may end up being the 22nd pick each week. I suspect if fit the match committee will pick him for flexibility reasons come game day.
