No expert either but I would assume the development of Grundy would be more on core strength and other ruck aspects. So that is time trial is stagnating while he is improving in those other areas, doesn't bother me too much. If he stops developing overall, then we should indeed be getting worried.
Will be interesting (pre)season nonetheless with both our 2 ruckmen wanting to be #1 plus the 2nd ruck conundrum.
This is pretty much why I'm not worried too much about Grundy's current times. As a young ruck, I'd expect as a matter of course for the club's main focus to be core strength, upper body strength, with endurance still a focus but less so than the previous two. Also, it would be interesting to know if Grundy has made any muscle/weight gains over the past few years. Assuming he is carrying extra weight, I would assume that would have an effect on his endurance too.

At the end of the day though, he is still just a baby in ruck terms, and endurance can always be focused on more heavily once his strength and ruck work have been more finely tuned. If he was 24/25 rather than approaching 22 I'd be far more concerned.

Very Good Point. Grundy is still a Kid in Ruckman Terms and IF he was 25/26 then might be bit more Concern. Though still Time Trials does not Make or Break a Player/Ruckman

I don't think we should be worrying about Grudy's time trial but rAther be impressed by Witts time
Considerably larger ruck who will be the number one ruckman this year. Even if you don't agree the competition will be good for both of them

It's a different type of fitness and dynamic unfortunately.

I don't think it's restricting him overly because he's the clear number 1, IMO, but I do think at this stage it's preventing him from taking the next step into AA contention so I'd hope that he steps it up soon.
The fact he is 21 and not 27 years of age is the reason he's not AA calibre just yet.

I attended training today, Was only there for about 30 minutes.

- Cloke looks so tiny compared to what he used to, was really solid.
- Reidy looks phenomenal, kicking was elite and is pretty much certain to have a good run at it
- Witts and Grundy had a few drills where they battled, Witts for most part beat Grundy but it was pretty equal.
- I like the look of Ben Crocker, He's a natural with kicking and movement, hope he can develop quickly for seniors.
- Aish was ramping up his running, Treloar also looked to be pushing himself a bit too. Both probably 1-3 weeks away from full training (eat it Harry O)
- Josh Smith is growing on me, clean and gets in and around it. Think he'll be elevated but Golds was pretty good too.
- Tarykn Lockyer actually put the whole training gear on as if he was a player, He was stuffed pretty easily but for his age, He did pretty good.
- Oxley is bigger in the arms then recent years I thought too.

Hopefully thats alright for those interested.
