Not just about going hard reset, you need the draft capital for Daicos and you don't want to carry to much into next season either which would hamper the rebuild.

Might have to look at a few of your leadership players to trade out for a hard reset

They will probably have to trade Mayhard out in order not to go into deficit and lose their first round pick next year too.

Apparently we are interested in Sam Weideman from Melbourne.

Makes sense. Mind you, I don't think he is cut out to be the main lynchpin in a forward line.

Family connection helps too. Should only cost you a 3rd or 4th round pick .

We won't be able to afford a main lynchpin acquisition this year anyways.

Probably a late pick on an average salary.

Wright on SEN this morning;
Trade period plans

“When you finish 17th, you’re after a fair bit.

“No doubt from our perspective we had a lot of experience go out of the club – up to 1300 games, so our underbelly was a lot of inexperienced players.

“If we had injuries, it was always going to leave us a little bit exposed, which it did.

“We’d like another midfielder, we’d like a couple of small forwards and potentially a couple of key forwards, so we’ve got a lot of spots that we would like to potentially fill.

“We’ll have to be smart with our decision making and see what we can land through the trade period, but also through the draft.”

PENDLES SET TO SEAL PIES EXTENSION

Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury will in coming days sign a new deal that will allow him to play at least two more seasons of his brilliant Pies career.

Pendlebury’s negotiations continue on what could be a straight two-season deal but is more likely to be a one-season contract with a games-based clause for the second season.

The Pies captain’s desire to sign a two-year deal is seen to have led to him floating the possibility of a rival offering a playing-coaching contract to move elsewhere.

It was a throwaway line but he was forced to clarify his comments this week on social media.

Like many clubs Collingwood is holding off on talks with multiple players after exit interviews this week but hopes to have Pendlebury’s deal done in the next week.

A one-year deal with a trigger would allow him to easily play on into 2023 if he dodged injury or broker another contract next year if he missed too many games.

Three of your best four players are RFA next year.
3 of your best 4 players are 34, 34 and 32 next year!

They can sign for team friendly deals or we can get band 1 compo for 1 2 or 3 of them!

I think we hold a strong position either way, ending up with either 2, 3 or 4 top 10 picks! (assuming we miss the 8 of course)

If Collingwood put Taylor Adams on the trade block, what do you think the club could get for him.
Keen to hear from opposition supporters only.

Cox and Sidebottom to the Gold Coast for a couple of picks and it opens up from there.
I've been hoping for Sidebottom to be offloaded for picks at his peak trade value for many year snow.

Too bad Sidebottom's value has taken a dip, and 1 more year will see it plummet even further.
