Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Couldn't find the thread for Oleg Markov. He's been delisted by Collingwood. Actually rate him. Will he be picked up?

three clubs.
a flag, I imagine he'll feel he is done.

Wonder if he continues on in the vfl though.

I'll miss the energy he brings. A real fun player to have around.

Charlie Dean. Ash Johnson and Fin Macrae also delisted.

WHE has retired.

Any reason why Harry Hemattia hasnt been given a go at all?
Stats at VFL look good and even some of the highlights I've seen shows hes got some talent at least.

Been learning a new role this year. Started the year off half back, but now been playing more inside mid with stints on the wing, so I guess learning the draft. Was tough to get opportunity there, but was close a couple times.
Something he would need to work on is his disposal and composure with ball in hand. He needs to see he has more time than he realises at times.

Love that they have been brave enough to chase a flag with their old guns still around but it is going to take some masterful list management from here to avoid the car crash

Collingwood supporters won't admit it.

Derek Hine had a horrible 8 year period.

Daicos Daicos and Quaynor were all F/S or Academy picks.

Tasmania haven't done the research if they are hiring this bloke.

Their drafting has lowkey been pretty awful.

This is the thing.

Everyone's talked about Geelong "Hitting The Cliff" for years....but at least we do have some excellent <25 yo players who are either already established or well on their way (Smith, Holmes, SDK, Dempsey, Humphries, O'Sullivan, Neale). That's not including Clark, Bruhn, Ollie Henry, etc...

We also have a very strong core in the next age bracket up (Miers, Stengle, Close, Jack Henry, Guthrie, Mannagh, Mullin...) who you'd back to be around for the best part of 7-8 years. "The Cliff" might come, but we do have a bunch of guys who can help soften the blow, plus can be around to help build the next run at it.

Collingwood look much thinner on the <25 yo front - admittedly there's been some injuries and bad luck, but it's basically Naicos and McCreery with a side helping of Ned Long. Their 25-28yo brigade has some good role players, a bunch of guys from other clubs who haven't quite lived up to expectations yet, and Jaicos, Hill and Quaynor.

The worm can turn - they've traded away a lot of draft picks but we've shown that you can find diamonds in the rough at Pick 50-something. But as it stands, I think they're in a significantly worse place than us in terms of "Cliffs" approaching.

They managed to somehow bail themselves out of the cap fiasco from a number of years ago which would have crippled most clubs builds for 5-10yrs

This period is finally coming to an end, IIRC Grundy is the last one we are still paying for.

The plan was to out-Geelong Geelong with well maintained oldies (worked once from 3 seasons) and out-FA Hawthorn 2013-2015 with some big UFAs, but that market is very crowded right now.

Our not too secret hope is Allan, HDM and McGuane slot in and we nab a tall defender and forward, but the turnaround time is frikken tight.

They ran out of cash salary cap wise. There's a reason that Mihocek is going and its Jack Buller coming in
Apparently in the play for Silvagni and Rowell during the year. That indicates some capacity. I don’t place much value on the “big fish” talk. A list policy on amount and length of contracts to veterans does not impact acquisitions. (Just sign Elliott please).

The reason Checkers is going is because his body is on its last legs and he wants a 3 year deal. Carried multiple injuries all year and looked cooked in the back half. Just not sensible to give him more than 2 years with his age.

Considering some of their outs and their older players now on reduced contracts, I think they're conserving cap space for 2026 and 2027 FA classes. They don't have the draft picks to make trade moves to strengthen their team, but the next 2 FA classes are pretty nice and the appeal of Collingwood the club, all the games at the MCG, and a lot of money would be significant for a bunch of players.

They won't want to bottom out while they have Daicosx2, Moore, Quaynor, etc.

I'd expect them to target guys like Butters, Bailey, King, etc. next year then go nuts in 2027. That 2027 trade period will be nuts considering the quality of players coming out of contract and hitting free agency. Everyone's lining up for the Tassie payday and the end of the current CBA.

Money offered to Silvagni was pretty low/crap. You guys got blown out of the water and never upped your offer.

Every single club on Earth was wanting Rowell. You would have had to trade players out to get what Gold Coast wanted in any case. The way I saw that is if Rowell said yes then Maynard was going to get the boot.

Are you suggesting Silvagni with his long history on the field in the backline was worth more? Moved to the backline 2025, a few games and out for the year. Has good AFL traits and effort is good, especially in rehab. Hmmmm. Collingwood assessed the situation, made an offer and didn’t move. Full credit to list management. The offer didn’t seem crap. May he play 100 at St Kilda.
We ain’t got the high draft picks for a Rowell type, players would have been required. It would have cut deep.
