- Marc Bowles will pretty much always be at full-forward as he isn't a spring chicken anymore
- 28 out of the 38 players are 23 and under
- Gregory Jordan will be played in a multitude of positions
- Back line will be rotated given inexperience there

Baby Pies manage to hold off fast finishing Lions

Collingwood have managed to defeat the Lions by 31 points despite Brisbane kicking 6 goals to 2 in the last quarter after the Pies held a 58 point lead. Nicholas Knopf was again a star with 31 possessions while Marcus Ranson's running off half back was brilliant, picking up 25 possessions and even kicking a goal. Butright and Bowles kicked 3 goals a piece in their opening match for the season while Slavin kicked 2 in his first un-official match in black and white colours. Hunter Downes proved he has talent taking 11 marks at CHB.

Inexperienced Pies do coach proud

Collingwood coach Peter Williams announced he was happy with his side's fighting loss to Essendon. The side, without Bowles and Street, as well as Hatherly and Ranson playing on flanks, saw the Pies only go down by 9 points in a low scoring affair. Hunter Downes again impressed off half back, showing selectors why he was worth keeping. Formical was good from CHF with 2 goals.

Double B's get inaccurate Collingwood across the line

Another strong performance by the two B twin towers in Marc Bowles and Brayden Butright has given Collingwood the start they wanted with a tight match against the Bulldogs. After sitting at 1.12 at quarter time, the Pies finished with 12.17 to run out winners by a goal. Hatherly and Scoble were impressive with 59 possessions between them while Marcus Ranson had a quiet day off the half back flank with 16 possessions and 6 marks. Joel Slaven kicked a goal in his first match for the club.

Collingwood hang on to tight win over at AAMI

Collingwood have clung onto it's second win in a row after defeating the Crows at AAMI Stadium by a goal. In the exact result to that of last week's thriller against the Bulldogs, the Pies' managed to just hold onto a fast finishing opposition. Butright kicked 4 goals while Bowles kicked 2 as the Pies took a tough and tight approach to the game which saw no one really stand out but they still claimed the four points.

Collingwood inaccuracy kills them as they wilt against Carlton

Collingwood's youth finally succummed to the pressure despite only being against , at that stage, a winless Carlton side. Two debutants had very different stories. Pick #32, Derrick Parsons, kicked 2 goals and was the only major contributor up forward for the Pies while Pick #63, Nicholas Flentjar only saw the ball 3 times before being injured and will miss 3 weeks. Hatherly, Butright and Slavin were amongst the best once again.

Bloody oath inaccuracy is haunting Collingwood everywhere even in games!
Awsome story keep it up.

Collingwood fall short against Swans interstate

Collingwood have dropped out of the top 8 for the first time in two seasons after their loss to the Swans by 13 points despite only kicking one less goal. Collingwood also had two key injuries to star players (Slavin & Knopf), for a combined three weeks which will see the midfield need the younger players to stand up for the next fortnight. David Hatherly meanwhile, was on fire with 4 goals to accompany his 25 possessions as he keeps trying each week as the Collingwood backline is struggling. Williams suggested Bowles may go down there to be used as an attacking defender as of next week.

Brayden Butright kicked 0.5 in the last game

Can't blame the backline though, have too much inexperience. Bowles will try down there and maybe Ranson off a flank and see how it goes. :thumbsu:

Any tips are appreciated too. :)

Hawthorn way too good as Bowles experiment fails

If one lesson was learnt from this game, it was Marc Bowles is definetly not a Full Back. He may well be, or well at least, was last season; the best forward in the game, but he's not a backman. In an effort to add experience to a backline who lost it's two main stars last season due to salary cap issues, the Pies are hoping they can get a high pick and lure or select a Tall Back to the club. While they have some up and coming decent players, none are going to be those of Mather co. of yesteryear. Scoble and Maidment did well while Butright found his kicking boots again with 5 goals.

Redmond boots 7 and sends Pies fans a message

"We're not done with yet" was the message that came out of third gamer, 7 goal hero, Jaylen Redmond to his Pie fans after the came. Not only did he share hope, but his age of 18, also showed quite possibly a glimpse into the future. With an uncanny of Bowles at CHB and Hopkirk at FB, the Kangaroos almost laughed at the lineup, soon enough they were stunned as the Pies managed to spoil nearly everything against their twin tower markers and only let them get 2 goals each. Forlong did well in the ruck while Butright was again a star with 3 goals.

Essendon too strong for Pies and hold on in ANZAC classic

Essendon have managed to keep the gap bridged between them and the Pies after their 13 point win on ANZAC Day. Slaven thrived in the midfield while the forwards were pretty even, a handful kicking three goals while the defence was strong. Essendon just proved too good on the day but the Pies seem to be improving. All Pies fans want is to be competitive each game which they certainly were this week.

Collingwood 14.8.92 defeated by Essendon 15.15.105

Redmond fills void but Pies still not up to scratch

Jaylen Redmond was once again a star for the black and white in the absence of Marc Bowles who dropped himself from the side, declaring with his form at the moment, he was not in the best 22. 8 months ago, he was a Coleman Medallist. Stynes and Carlyon came in for their debut and soon learned the tricks of the trade with 5 goals kicked against them. Forlong did well in the ruck while Butright was equally impressive down forward but all eyes were on the 18 year old from Drouin who keeps impressing the fans of both sides alike.

Midfield dominate, but Pies hit ground zero

Terrible, terrible game. Sadly I am refraining from commenting. Only good players were Hatherly, Slaven, Maidment, Downes and Scoble. Brisbane were the bottom team and we lost, now we're the bottom team. Come on Number #1 draft pick!

Redmond again spurs Pies; this time to a belting!

Another 7 goal haul by the newest AFL draftee in Jaylen Redmond, has spurred Collingwood onto a massive 88 point win over Richmond to answer critics who had them penciled in for the wooden spoon after last week's terrible loss to Brisbane. Although many say it was only Richmond (14th), that the bottom placed Pies' won over, it was still exciting for the fans to see their heroes in action and give them some excitement over what a prospect Redmond could be. In the same forward line as two champions of the game (Butright and Bowles), he was the one proving himself to be the champion forward with skyrocketing leads, towering marks and classic goals. Slaven was again good in the midfield in the Pies' win.

Collingwood 20.18.138 defeated Richmond 7.8.50

Best: Slaven, Butright, Ranson

Bowles boots 7, Pies fall gracefully against the Weagles

Marc Bowles showed he was back. To any opposition this is one of your biggest horrors. Redmond was being carefully watched but still kicked 3 goals. Forlong crucified his opponent in the ruck while Hatherly and Slaven decimated the Eagles midfield with 36 and 35 possessions respectively. But still this wasn't enough as the Eagles defeated the Pies by 23 points. Despite only trailing by four points at three quarter time, the Eagles kicked 7 goals to 4 to run out winners.

Redmond steam train continues as Pies rout Geelong in last quarter

Jaylen Redmond has continued his incredible form with another 5 goals to add to his total of 31 from 9 games this year. Meanwhile Collingwood out-run a slowing Geelong in the last quarter to win by 21 points. Bowles kicked another 2 goals and looked dangerous while the midfield look as sharp as usual. Spencer Gilchrist played one of his best games for the Pies' kicking a goal and keeping his opponent to 1 goal as well while collecting 22 possessions and taking 8 marks. The win is Collingwood's fifth and it moves them up to tenth, one win out of the eight.

Collingwood 17.12.114 defeated Geelong 13.15.93

Best: Forlong, Knopf, Gilchrist

Collingwood too good for Port at AAMI

For the second time this year, Collingwood have travelled to AAMI Stadium. And for the second time this year, they have walked away from there with four points. This time, it was a tight scrum once again, however a little more convincing with a 17 point win. After being up by 10 points at three quarter time, the Pies held on to win against the Power in a great contest. Redmond again starred with 4 goals while the midfield was once again dominant. The only let down for the Pies, was the 5 week report to Devon Hartney. Collingwood unthinkably entered the top 8 once again after Geelong lost to the Bulldogs in a close contest. For a team that was on the bottom a month ago, they have really lifted their game.

Collingwood 11.14.80 defeated Port Adelaide 9.9.63

Collingwood overpower Melbourne

Collingwood are back. Be afraid, be very afraid. While many people argued, and proved to be right, that Redmond was on a man-mountain and failed to kick a goal, it opened up Marc Bowles to kick 3 goals as did Nicholas Flentjar. David Hatherly was again best on ground while Nolan Scoble was impressive as his sidekick. Despite, a slight last quarter comeback, the Pies managed to hold onto a 19 point win against the top-of-the-ladder Dees.

Collingwood 15.11.101 defeated Melbourne 12.10.82

Best: Hatherly, Bowles, Slaven

Redmond and Bowles destroy the Saints

Collingwood has reaffirmed itself as one of the key teams in the league after it's second win on the trot with an 84 point belting of St. Kilda. After a terrible mismatch last week with Redmond, he came out firing, belting 9 majors from his 16 possessions and 10 marks. Meanwhile, Marc Bowles was just as effective, kicking 5 goals from his 24 possessions and 12 marks. Zachary Teale was dominant in the ruck as he stole the number #1 ruck position from Mark Forlong. Again the midfield did it's job, dominating and clearing it to the forwards. It was a day when Collingwood announced they were back in business.

Collingwood 23.12.150 defeated St. Kilda 9.12.66

Best: Slaven, Redmond, Jaspers

Bulldogs over-run tiring Pies

A brilliant 7 goal to 2 last quarter saw the Bulldogs home by 9 points to leave a shattered Collingwood outfit wondering what could have been. After leading by 21 points at the last change, the football world had their money on the Pies, but it was to be the Bulldogs who would strike and claim the four points. Collingwood's 'X' factor in Jaylen Redmond kicked a lean 2 goals as no-one really starred for the Pies' as they ran out of luck with their inconsistent season.
