We would have 3 out of 4 Witts/Grundy/Cox/White on the sidelines for the benefit of having Moore and Gault up forward? Surely not.
If its decided that Grundy/Witts combination doesnt work and only one gets picked, and if we assume Whites stocks have fallen, then it may be two of Moore/Gault/Cox.

Cox hasnt played a game yet so bit stretch yet to assume he is straight in our best 22 off the back of half a NAB Cup game.

Not a big fan of Cloke at CHF. Watching him get the ball up the ground is like watching groundhog day.

Cloke takes mark wheels around on his left foot and bombs it forward without looking.

Every time.

So he "bombs it forward" to a spot 30m out dead in front and we have some young chargers like Cox or Moore or Gault jumping at it.....the problem's been that Clokey had to bomb it forward and then try and mark his own kick!
With the big kids we've got coming through our targets up front suddenly look a whole lot brighter. At Kardinia Park last Friday night the "kick it to the hotspot" theory was exploited time and time again and it looked extremely efficient. Fasolo benefitted three or four times from knowing where the kicks were going. It's not rocket science, but now we have the artillery up front to exploit it. Clokey will love being a part of that.

Thing is though, he usually kicks it long to a one on one, because he's dragged up all the defenders.

Clokey bombing it to the 'hot spot' from a wing has gotta be better than having him work close to goal as the primary target.

Playing higher up the ground is a different proposition to playing CHB. I have no probs experimenting with him up at CHF but still think the goalsquares his best position

Leaves us awfully thin up front. And Cloke wouldn't get the attention he usually gets which creates gaps for the rest. And I thought Howe was earmarked for that position?

Are we? I'd say we're not there yet, but a 'long way off' is more what you'd say about Carlton, Essendon etc imo.
We are a long way off because we are coming off a poor season last year. I'm as excited as anyone about what we saw on Friday night but it must be tempered by the realty that it was little more than a training session. I'm not interested in how our team looks on paper because quite frankly I think some of our players are overrated, particularly when compared to other sides. Let's wait and see what happens when the real stuff begins, hopefully PancitCabagan is correct.

Boring. Even Pendles is more upbeat.

Love our attack but our defensive transition when losing the ball still needs work. We did it to them too, but the amount of times guys had run forward then got caught out ball watching and their forwards had space was a little ridiculous. It tightened up a bit once Toovs came on so perhaps with Marley, Langdon and Reid it might be right. Loved our attack, just an observation.
