Gee, being a pie supporter, I would love to meet Sydney first up in a final even on the SCG. They have no concept of pressure.
We would kick their a.rse and be set up for a Prelim Final.

You cant beat us in Melbourne, what hope would you have in Sydney. It would be at Telstra anyway.

Port or Sydney would be our preferred opponents if we had to travel in week 1 of the finals. Much better than travelling to Perth or Brisbane. Let the Swans have second spot - we will take third spot and destroy them in the first final like we destroyed the Power last year.

Ryan Lonie can run off his opponent Nick Davis and kick three goals from the half back flank.

Like most South Melbourne supporters Grayham, you don't realise that finals football is completely different to Home and Away.
It is THE part of the game where current experience in finals is so crucial.

Should South make the finals (and I for one still expect them to fall in a hole) you will discover that to be the case as South will probably go out "in straight sets".

So you dont think a side with 11 wins, a % of about 120, and with 6 games to go including 3 with large home ground advantage will make the 8 ?
:D :)

The only way Sydney could miss the 8 would be to loose every game by a large margin. Since we have the bye (I mean woods at home), the very least we could expect is 1.

You'll find that most of the swans do have finals experience. A would hazard a guess the combined finals games of the swans is a lot higher than the pies.

Assuming you are correct, which you probably arent, then I was obviously getting ahead of myself, where Sydney will be well ahead rather than about the same.
:D

BTW, I hope you are not counting Molloy and Neon in your GF experience tally, as neither has got an effective touch in a GF.
:D

Sorry... hate to disagree Grayham

Colly are a quality side, equal to any on their day.

And with Taz, and Rocca pose a problem for our defence....

Midfield is first rate, and only vulnerable in the ruck (how many now disagree with my "Get Darcy" thread from pre-season??)

A vulnerable spot in defence if u man up Cloke..

I look forward to meeting you in Round 21 & the FINALS!!!!!!!

Each to his own Syd. Collingwood IMO are a mid table side. Somewhere around 6th, 7th, 8th. As with any compromised comp, there is variance from the mean occationally.

Method in his madness

Maybe Grayham would like us 6,7 or 8 so Sydeney dont meet us in the first week.THE MONSTER IS AWAKE PEOPLE!!!!!

Surely you are not pinning your hopes on another lucky finals run are you?

Lightning doesnt strike twice.

More chance of luck than last year. If Essendon/North get knocked out in the first round (every likelihood) we will be the beneficiary of all the MCG finals.

However we don't need luck - we will end up top four and as the thread says, we are a game of second spot where we will earn the MCG finals.

Sydney doing well this year, for example?

They won't win a final, and they won't make the eight next year. I'll make a wager on that.

Unfortunelty the MCG finals is not decided on by which teams play*, its the lowest ranked final.

Note * - There is no way the AFL would ever move a Sydney final out of Sydney, MCG or no MCG rule. Trust me.

You're suggesting they'd move a Collingwood final - a QF or prelim, say - to an interstate location and reserve the MCG for an all-interstate final for an audience of three people and a sheepdog?

No, they'd never move an earnt collingwood final away from the MCG (or Docklands if that was the case), because no other grounds have this stupid rule.

But lets say, collingwood finish 8th, and interstate teams are 6th, 7th, 5th, 1st and 2nd. The MCG final would be 6v7. The AFL would actually love it to be Freo v Port. The lower drawing the better.

Yes he is. Port Adealide might be playing Adelaide in Melbourne whilst Brisbane play Coillingwood at the Gabba.

If Brisbane vs Collingwood happens to be the highest ranked final then West Coast vs Freo or Adelaide vs Port would be played in Melbourne.

Thats what you said - I'd love to see the AFL relocate a derby!!!
