Malthouse retires, Williams announced as coach
After eight years at the helm, veteran Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse has retired from football citing health concerns as a reason for his retirement. Despite not winning a premiership, he managed a couple of Grand Finals and several Preliminary Finals in his reign. At the end of the 2007 season, he announced he wouldn't go on and the Pies handed over the reigns to young Collingwood fan Peter Williams. Having coached at VFL level and TAC Cup level, Williams was excited to take the next step. "I'm really happy to be here and can't wait to get into it." he said.
