General conscious amongst AFL fans is Collingwood but an argument can be made for Richmond - being the first club to get 1 million people through the gates in a season and the first club to have 100k members in a season.

Collingwood.

They're there through thick and thin as membership numbers through the years have shown.

Unlike Richmond who have all jumped on after a flag
Collingwood membership
2009 - 45972
2010 - 48408
Flag
2011 - 71796

Memberships have only taken on an importance in the last decade or so, a period where Richmond was at it's most unsuccessful in it's history, whereas Collingwood won as many flags as it had in the previous 50 years, prior to that the judge would be numbers through the turnstyles.

Of the best 20 crowds ever (since 1921) Richmond was the home team 6 times, Collingwood was the home team 5 times.

Richmonds 1980 home attendance of 559506 was not bettered by Collingwood until 2006.

Collingwood may be slighly bigger right now but Richmond are no flash in the pan and with a period of sustained success as we had in the 60's - 70's we will probably be the biggest club again, the sleeping giant is awake!

No proof of that at all, Collingwoods increase in members after a flag is similar to ours, if not a greater percentage. Where are these numbers that don't lie, Ive listed numerous reasons you are wrong, so prove me wrong, or are you just talking through your arse?

Your jump was double that of Collingwood's.

Collingwood's membership rose by 14,000, yours rose by 28,000. Richmond are at Hawthorn levels of bandwagon.

Lol, do you understand percentage and or addition?
Collingwoods membership jumped by 23000 not 14000, from 48408 to 71796 a 48% rise.
Richmond went from 72669 to 100,726 a 38% rise:$

Oh we are already 10k in front of last year at the same stage.

Wrong. Collingwood's membership was 57,617. It was a 19% rise. Like I said, you doubled that. :$

It's marvellous what a few winning seasons does to the fickle.

Not from where Im getting the figures http://www.footyindustry.com/page_id=228 they show collingwood with 48408 in 2010 and in 2011 the year after their flag shows 71706 a 48% rise.

Its marvelous how quickly we left Collingwood behind and how fickle their supporters are, they only managed the 5th highest membership this year, we were still able to reach third highest for membership in 2015,16 and17 after 37 years without a flag.

Even if it was 51617 to 71706 that's still a 24% rise, mate there are calculators on google for this ****

Lol are you kidding me, that's wikipedia Eddie probably put those figures in, my figures are from a real site with this disclaimer
* Note 1984-2016 are official AFL membership numbers as found in annual reports. 2017 figures as reported by the AFL on August 16th, 2017.

I just looked it up your figures are including non access which are not official AFL members, a bit like Adelaide do with their mailout members, that are counted in charts up until the official end of year count, pet members.

The AFL confirmed in 2016 that it had tightened membership regulations and to be counted as a member an individual must have a name, contact details, have contributed $50 to the club and received a membership pack. The official counts also include multiple memberships held by an individual. Pet memberships are not counted but the AFL confirmed babies and toddlers are included.

This means that some clubs lose some part of the membership numbers they tout in their membership tallies. Adelaide and Port Adelaide are the most affected by this.

The number I showed is under the same rules applied to Richmond in 2018, your numbers include what are known as "pet memberships".

This is from the afl 2011 report
Collingwood set a record for a club with 71,271 members,
up 24 per cent on its 2010 total of 57,408.

So no where near double by Richmond and as I said those figure are counted differently from Richmond in 2018 under the same rules Collingwood had 48408 as quoted from
http://www.footyindustry.com/page_id=228

Isnt the aim to increase memberships when successfull as both Collingwood and Richmond have done better than any other clubs?

Lol I'll concede that you should learn to use a percentage calculater and not believe everything you read in wikki.
