Is that an Oxleymoron?
Love it!

It's exceedingly rare that I individualise in a negative manner without at least some effort at a constructive element, but I just can't cop him.

The bloke could win the next 3 Brownlow's and my attitude towards him will remain "volcanic"...

This article lists the correct years: three each for Adams and Crisp.

I'm so ****ing chuffed, could not be happier.

Well, at least I thought I couldn't until I saw this, in the same article:

13 – Number of current players who have committed to Collingwood until the end of 2018. They are:
  • Steele Sidebottom – until the end of 2021
  • Adam Treloar – until the end of 2021
  • Scott Pendlebury – until the end of 2020
  • Jordan De Goey – until the end of 2019
  • Darcy Moore – until the end of 2019
  • Brayden Maynard – until the end of 2019
  • Jack Crisp – until the end of 2019
  • Taylor Adams – until the end of 2019
  • Levi Greenwood – until the end of 2018
  • James Aish – until the end of 2018
  • Adam Oxley – until the end of 2018
  • Tom Langdon – until the end of 2018
  • Matthew Scharenberg – until the end of 2018

24.9 – The average age of the 13 signed players in 2018.

  • Oldest: Scott Pendlebury – 30 years old
  • Youngest: Brayden Maynard – 22 years old

76woodenspooners was talking in the Sydney SCG thread about us playing the Seans every year, and now we have to re-sign our players before the Sean starts.

Who is this Sean, and why does he exert such influence over our club?!
It's the Sean Beans. Which means of course, they will be dead before the end of the match.

It's a good list but Oxley is a poor signing. We can't delist him now until start of 2019...

Great announcements, just not sure why we would re-sign Oxley at this stage... Should wait and see how he goes in 2016

Gee Oxley cops a lot of abuse for a bloke that played 17 games last year and who in my opinion did pretty well for effectively a first year player.
Yes, he might be a bit soft at the contest and a little slow. But he's got a nice kick on him, and can read the play (his game v Melbourne comes to mind).
If he's not best 22, he'll be a pretty decent backup.

He's really the only player on our list I think is no good, but I suppose you can look at it that way. Guess I'll have to reserve my judgments somewhat as I'll be stuck with him for another 3 years anyway.
I think Oxley will surprise a few as he matures. Don't get the soft tag that some have labelled him with. Soft players don't back into oncoming packs. Outside player yes but teams need those types. Reminds me a lot of Shane Morwood, good mark, good mover, good user, so he's got some tools. Just lacks 1/2 a yard of pace to take on a 1v1 defender role but ideal loose behind the footy. Could take on the much vaunted Pendles HB sweeper role leaving Pendles to continue as 1 of the best mids in the league.

Oxley 2 years. LOL. I don't rate him at all. He is as soft as butter.
And Rusty's such a hard man?? My guess is those at the club who know and see Oxley's talent first hand do rate him but what would they know hey?

Agree. Oxley is not soft.

I understand the soft tag insofar as I saw him stand off a contest or not go as hard as he might have on around three occasions last year. And yet I also saw him go hard into the contests on a number of occasions, backing into packs etc.

Footy commentators point out often enough that players are under some incredible scrutiny these days, that cameras are crueller in picking up even the slightest hesitation in players, that these moments get emphasised and replayed more than ever before. Ox seems to be a victim of this, but there's no reason to doubt that he'd put himself on the line when he has to.

I don't know how useful Oxley will ultimately be, but I do know that he's not as bad as some of these posts are suggesting.
