call me a sentamentalist but i have enjoyed watching the pies revival this year. i know that watching a team that has been down so long shake itself off and start to play some exciting footy is extremely rewarding for you supporters, especially those that dragged themselves to all the crap performances of the last decade. for collingwood this time the revival is for real, not the normal flurry at the start of the season followed by a huge over reaction and chest thumping from its majority of intellectually challenged supporters only to see them lose the next 12. so good luck to the supporters who stuck and every success to your team.
having said all that this saturday i will be assuming my usual role of complete despise, hate and loathing for everthing collingwood, as my lot try to lift themselves to a much needed win.
at the start of the week i would have given us no chance at all after our pathetic display against the roos and your great win over port, but now i'm not so sure. footy is a game played as much between the ears as on the ground and the usc boozers article on the front page of the age will have a positive short term effect on the team and club. i am sure that blight will be shoving the motivation of 'backs to the wall, last chance this year' down the players throats. they will be up for this game, all the more so as it is against a hated foe.
i hope blight ligns koschitzke up on tarrant. it will be a great test for the young bloke to line up on a young player who has arrived as a star. thompson and knowles to rotate on buckley leaving harvey to dominate around the ground. beat tarrant and buckley and we are a fair way to winning.
gehrig will make a pact with rocca at the start of the game to not run to any contests and therefore both bludge in a pocket somewhere.
everitt to oppose fraser, you blokes better hope that the lazy spider turns up to play, if not everitt will take the young bloke to the cleaners giving our midfield plenty of the ball.
richardson or presti on an in form stewie loewe will be no match for the big fella who will kick another bag this week.
you lot will go into this game raging favorites, and thats fair enough, but don't be to surprised when you lose. just before the final siren sounds as the saints are about to win listen out for a loud and maniacal laugh emanating from the mcc pavillion, it will be me revelling in the pure joy of looking into the faces of cocky collingwood supporters when they lose and the even greater joy of the mighty saints winning.
good luck.
