This thread plus a few 'symptoms' (internet self diagnosis is a dangerous thing!) made me realise that it is over a year since my last blood sugar test so I have booked into the local super clinic tomorrow for a pathology referral. My previous doctor before I moved inner city regularly had me tested. At the bulk bill clinic, I tend to tell the doctors what I want in the way of medication and tests. A caring and thorough doctor is sadly missed when you no longer have one.
TGG there's an excellent clinic in Acland St - not sure if you've found it:)

I go to the super clinic in the Cole's complex in Acland St. Is there another?
Opposite Coles, and upstairs, there's a very good bulk billing clinic

All good as long as you trimmed that fat off.
I must admit I don't. I can't imagine enjoying a lamb chop minus the fat. I eat no processed foods and have all but given up sweet stuff (except the occasional binge). But I have a weakness for fat on meat, particularly lamb, particularly as I have already paid for it.

The one I love the best is Vegetable Chips as if they are healthy. Please tell me what the hell is a potato. I am pretty sure it is a vegetable.
I think the idea is meant to be that there is a lot less starch than potoatos, but you're right that they're still v bad for you.

Trimming the fat is the first thing I do with meat.
Extremely hard to do with Lamb Shanks, but you do what you have to do.

A little tasty,food is ok I'm sure.

Chops are delicious.

You know your chops :)
I had lamb chops lavishly sprinkled with french onion soup done in alfoil in the oven for dinner. Hardly gourmet but delicious. Probably the worst health risk is the packaged french onion soup - not salt reduced either. Usually I grill them but just occasionally this makes a nice change.

And thanks Magpie Girl, I have read the reviews and will next try your recommended clinic, directly across the road from the super clinic. Shouldn't have too many hassles shifting my history across. Reviews suggest that the service is chalk and cheese between the 2 centers.

Not a big red meat eater.
And find the fat pretty sickening really.
Hasn't been cooked right?

Fat can be cold too, a nice prosciutto or ham can have some of the tastiest, sweetest & creamiest fat.

It can melt in your mouth like a meat lolly.:D

Have a nice hair do (assuming you still have locks) and Magpie Girl might just take photos like a paparazzi when you enter the clinic, and place them in the hair review thread.

It's so ingrained now, the anti fat message.

The reactions of some people to eating fat or even talking about fat are ridiculous. It can be like I'm talking about eating leftover Chernobyl beef that has been marinating in asbestos.

Some natural or animal fats actually help the digestion, and assist with processing foods. In this way they are better for you - and not as 'fattening' - as low fat products. The latter are a sham.

I always think of my mum and dad, eating the typical Aussie diet of meat and three veg, including eating the 'fat' on the meat and cooking with dripping. While I'm not prepared to go that far, they were slim people all their lives.

I had marinated pork belly just now. Better then lamb if you ask me.

Hey, I'm all about the fat.

Lamb, chorizo, pork, chicken, salami, beef, black pudding, ham, snags, bacon.........................

If it's lean, tell ya story walkin'!

Though it's thinning, I do in fact have hair, at least enough to keep a barber busy for 15 minutes or so. I will be looking for both hidden and in your face cameras when I visit the center. However, I am sure that MG has more to do with her time than lurk for photos in bulk billing establishments.
