Mihocheks clearly touched "goal" was at a critical moment. Fully expect Collingwood would have won regardless, they were better all night, but Giants have the right to be pretty aggrieved about that call, among a few others. The noise of affirmation, or lack of for GWS was clear in a few calls and non-calls.

I’m not usually one to buy in on conspiracy theories and I’m a genuine impartial, possibly even slightly collingwood leaning but the boys in black and white got the run of the green to an outrageous degree tonight. At times it was farcical.
Man you guys are fortunate to even be able to blame umpires for the result given we should have been up by 7 goals at quarter time.
Couldn't be, it was simultaneous or it was after, if he swiped at it and made contact before it hit the boot it would have deflected more.
You would have won anyway but theres no doubt it generated momentum at a key time.

No fan of GWS but over the last three years they have copped some pain from the ups when playing finals in Victoria (they also coped the raw end of the prawn in that prelim against the dogs in Sydney).
Maybe their lack of crowd support plays a factor in swaying the ups on the 50/50 calls?

Friday nights was much worse- so many soft frees.
Last night was reasonable considering- yet still rubbish.
Razor Ray was generally decent until he pulls one out of his rectum to Greene for a push from one of teh pies- crucial point in the last and just absolute rubbish.
Pies got a few lucky ones- had rub of teh green in the first
GWS got a golden run in teh 2nd.
I've said it before and I'll say it again
There is no way the free kick count does not influence umpires- even if it is subconsciously.
Too many games have seen lopsided counts in a q/half miraculously evened up.
Ray, Stevic and Nicholls cannot umpire another final.
Basically- If supporters know an umpire by name- it generally means they are horrible.

The amount of throwing the ball out of contests that is going on without being caught by the umpires is at an all time disgusting low.

15.2.3 Holding the Football – Prior Opportunity/No Prior Opportunity
(a) Where the field Umpire is satisfied that a Player in possession of the football:
(i) has had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if the Player does not Correctly Dispose of the football immediately when they are Correctly Tackled;
(ii) has not had a prior opportunity to dispose of the football, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if, upon being Correctly Tackled, the Player does not Correctly Dispose or genuinely attempt to Correctly Dispose of the football after being given a reasonable opportunity to do so; or
(iii) has driven their head into a stationary or near stationary opponent, the Player shall be regarded as having had prior opportunity.
(b) Except in the instance of a poor bounce or throw up by the field Umpire or a throw in by the boundary Umpire, a Player who takes possession of the football while contesting a bounce or throw up by a field Umpire or a boundary throw in by a boundary Umpire, shall be regarded as having had prior opportunity.
15.2.4 Application – Specific Instances where Play shall Continue For the avoidance of doubt, the field Umpire shall allow play to continue when:
(a) a Player is bumped and the football falls from the Player’s hands;
(b) a Player’s arm is knocked which causes the Player to lose possession of the football;
(c) a Player’s arms are pinned to their side by an opponent which causes the Player to drop the football, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply;
(d) a Player, whilst in the act of Correctly Disposing of the football, is swung off-balance and does not make contact with the football by either foot or hand, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply; or
(e) a Player is pulled or swung by one arm which causes the football to fall from the Player’s hands, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply.
15.2.5 Diving on Top of the Football Where a Player is in possession of the football by reason of diving on top of or dragging the football underneath their body, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if they do not immediately knock the football clear or Correctly Dispose of the football when Correctly Tackled.
(1) So from this, it's hard to tell with the 1st example, if Treloar had prior, it's definitely holding the ball, if not then I would say this applies:
(d) a Player, whilst in the act of Correctly Disposing of the football, is swung off-balance and does not make contact with the football by either foot or hand, unless the Player has had a prior opportunity to Correctly Dispose of the football, in which case Law 15.2.3 (a) shall apply; or
(2) and (3) definitely would look like the player has dived on the ball and, when correctly tackled, the ball hasn't come out. That's basically the definition of this:
15.2.5 Diving on Top of the Football Where a Player is in possession of the football by reason of diving on top of or dragging the football underneath their body, the field Umpire shall award a Free Kick against that Player if they do not immediately knock the football clear or Correctly Dispose of the football when Correctly Tackled.

Exactly. Its not just which side gets the free kicks, its where they are paid. And also the ones ignored.
Collingwood held the ball, dropped the ball and threw the ball all night. I would be amazed if they were pinged more than twice. GWS got called against far more often, including when laying perfectly legitimate tackles.

Exactly.
For example, Riewoldt has had 4 goals from free kicks all year. Collingwood get that in 1 game, and a final no less.

Lol we get one good run with the umpires for a year and suddenly it's a conspiracy. Right, any more excuses?
We see this a couple of games each weekend. Very disappointing for the fans paying up. It certainly does not help the lower ranked teams on the ladder as i believe better teams enjoy this more than they should.
