Well, I've got some good news, and some bad news.

The good news is, that after a spell in the shops, my usual rig is back online and I am back from the wilderness. The bad news is, that after a spell in the shops, my usual rig is back online and I am back from the wilderness. Give and take...

I do, however, have more bad news than good. Much like our team, we may have been worked out. The formatting has changed:

In the plus column, we now have a 1920x1080 maximum resolution. However, as you can see, we are back to the old m3u8 file format. You will need to open these in VLC Media Player. And if you use the Record function, you can keep a copy.

Finding a workaround to this new development has me stumped, so I might put the challenge to the floor here: can anyone else do better and find an MP4 extension for these things? We've done it before. Surely we can do it again...?
I'm not sure how to make those links mp4, but I have figured out the pattern with the links so you can access a game from this year (Rounds 15, 16 and possibly the future). I will try my best to explain.

So the first thing you do is you go on: https://www.afl.com.au/livepass/match-replays where the replays are. Then you want to block the sign-in elements (by using Platinum Membership - https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/account/upgrades ;) or use inspect element and delete). Then you choose the match that you want to get (eg. Round 16's Gold Coast vs Richmond). After that, you right click on the thumbnail of the quarter you want and click inspect element. You should get this:

705424

Now if you look in the URL after it says the date (2019/Jul) there should be 6 numbers, where in this case it's '996946'. You want to copy that number and put it on the URL (where its highlighted red): https://bpmultihlsvods3258.ngcdn.telstra.com/hls_afl_h264_ts/996946/v7-121-221.m3u8 And you got the link of one quarter. Then you repeat the steps to get the others (which all you do is add 1 to the next link).

Have we worked out a way to convert these new m3u8 files to mp4?

You need VLC Player installed first and foremost ..

1. Copy the URL for the quarter you wish to save
2. In VLC, hit CTRL-R to load the 'Open Media' dialogue box
3. Select the 'Network' tab and paste the copied URL into the box
4. Click the 'Convert / Save' button

5. Creating a Profile (Only Required Once)

a. Next to the profile drop down box, there are 3x icons, select the third, which is 'Create a new profile'
b. Up the top, give the profile a name in the text box .. 'Collingwood Games' or whatever you desire
c. Encapsulation Tab - Tick MP4/MOV
d. Video Codec Tab - Tick the 'Video' box as well as the 'Keep original video track' box
e. Audio Codec Tab - Tick the 'Audio' box as well as the 'Keep original audio track' box
f. Hit the 'Create' box to save these settings

6. Under the Profile drop down box, select your newly create 'Collingwood Games' profile
7. Hit the 'Browse' button so select a location and filename to save the quarter
8. Hit start and allow the file to be created ..

Thanks mate, but it doesn't seem to be saving it. I end up with a file that's 130 kb in size. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or there is another reason.

Sounds as if you are saving the stream file (.m3u8) and not converingt the link to the .mp4

Try follow the steps again, and at step 4, hit the drop down box and make sure you hit CONVERT.
You should then be able to paste the link for the quarter, pick the profile you created, and then choose where to save it, before hitting Start.

You should see a blank video window, and where the video timeline normally sits, this will show you the progress of your file converting.
Make sure you don't interrupt this process until it has 100% finished.

Let me know if you have any issues.

Hi Spook182. When I click on each quarter it comes up as the Collingwood v Richmond game. Not the Collingwood v GCS game.
