Darcy does look much happier so far. Hopefully that transpires to staying healthy.

That’s terrific he’s.

Murphy brings a wonderful asset to the board. If required he can use a certain word to Ed if required.

No.

A variety of Collingwood Community Camps are running throughout Australia this week, including a two-day action-packed visit to the Latrobe Valley.

As part of the club’s partnership with the Latrobe Valley Authority, twenty-five Collingwood players spent time in the region to visit various schools, community groups and hospitals throughout Sale and its surrounding towns.

A big area of focus of the camp is to promote participation in football, including Auskick programs. The Sale Football Netball Club played host to a super clinic on Monday afternoon, with 250 kids from local schools participating and learning new footy skills - all with the help of Collingwood’s elite players.

“It’s all good fun, the kids have got plenty of energy, and it’s great to be teaching kids some footy knowledge along the way,” explained Mason Cox.

“The fact that we’re all spread out across the country and giving back to the AFL community, it’s a good thing.

“It’s great for me to see a new area of the country, experience something different and give back to people in this community.”

Players also visited local schools to answer students’ questions about life as professional footballers, and promote the importance of participating in sport, and leading healthy lifestyles.

Visits to aged care facilities and hospitals took a different pace, and proved the love of Collingwood runs across generations. Bringing a smile to residents and patients in both Sale and Maffra, players were able to share a yarn and brighten some days along the way.

The camp was a precursor to Collingwood’s two upcoming matches in Morwell – the AFLW’s round four clash against the GWS Giants on Sunday 24 February, and the JLT Community Series match, which will see the AFL side take on Carlton on Monday 11 March.

Is this an issue with the new BF?
Or do I, as they ask when clicked on, have to have an Instagram account?

Great to see Darcy Moore enjoying himself at the NT camp, as per the Collingwood media reports. This, together with consistently positive training reports, are hopefully pointing to bigger and better things for him this year.

Darcy looked miserable for most of 2018, for a range of reasons, but he appears to be ‘in a better space’.

He could still be anything for us.

The AGM started at 6pm, and that article by Peter Ryan (a club ally) was put up at 7pm - probably while the AGM was still going.

Peter Ryan was clearly backgrounded by somebody inside the club ahead of the AGM (which is nothing unusual). The person giving the backgrounding knew what was going on with the board, and the status of yet-to-be-announced contract negotiations with key folks like Taylor Adams and Nathan Buckley. Maybe the backgrounder was Ed himself? Doubt that would surprise anyone.

The article included the line “As a result of his work at Collingwood Murphy is regarded by many as capable of succeeding the Magpies' long-serving president McGuire who has been in the role since 1998 if McGuire ever decided to vacate the role.” ...

... I wonder if that bit was part of the backgrounding as well?

Best guess, Murphy is next in line so to speak.

Ofcourse he’ll have to live a very long life ;)

Finally evidence of a presidential succession plan? I’ve been shouting about the need for a while, although Ed won back some brownie points for the integrity of the club review and the way 2018 played out.

Plausible.

But like the Chinese, Ed thinks strategy in decades and centuries

:p

Hmm, Ed’s current term as President is up at the end of this year.

Maybe this will be the last year we see Ed at the head of the table? Given things as they currently are, the decision will be up to him.

For perspective, Ed will need to serve another two terms before he overtakes Harry Curtis’ record of Collingwood’s longest serving President.

The question is how long Ed wants to go for?

I’d suggest he sees it as a good few terms more.

At a guess.

He’d love to be there side by side if Nathan coaches an “era side” where we win a few premierships.

Re Instagram with that funny symbol and you can’t see the picture straight away?

Answer:

Step 1: tap on that symbol thing. (You’ll get the multiple pictures page on Instagram.)

Step 2: place going back key. (You’ll now see proper picture.)

A bit of a nuisance but once you get used to it, it’s simple enough.

Worth considering that when Harry Curtis ended his time as President after 26 years and six Premierships it was under very bitter and acrimonious circumstances. These things can turn quickly no matter how beloved the person is.

As recently as around eight months ago many folks were openly questioning whether Ed was past his used-by date - there’d been a gradual slide down the ladder, poor performance by all our teams, and a few public gaffes. Ed is fortunate that the review has been successful (so far) because if our fortunes hadn’t changed then it wouldn’t just be Nathan Buckley who would have been turfed out on his ear.
