Such as “Ginny was a star” here?
He was when he burst on the scene
Im happy to move on but you want to keep having the last say
I think its going to prove a big mistake to let him go and most of the tow the company line “on here don't .. end of it

FYI there’s a past trade thread created solely to whine about past trades. It gives the rest of us who don’t like dwelling on the past a break from those that do. Knock yourself out in that thread.

To all those that love living in the past, talking about Ginni, past trading first rounders, knock your selves out in here.

Stop derailing other threads.

I was going to reply to a Ginni comment but will put my thoughts here so as not to derail another thread.

If we don’t put someone on him in a few weeks he will once more put on a clinic and end up with 25d+ 8SI+ including a goal or two. He’s in form, but he is also being given incredible freedom. As we know the Dogs don’t like to defend the ground which plays into Ginni’s hands where he positions himself between the lines as a winger/+1 mid and uses his smarts and skills to slice through the opposition defence.

I personally would tell R Steele to put some body pressure and follow him closely. For all of Ginni’s positives he is incredibly slow so if you don’t allow him space you will take away a big part of his game. Steele is getting 10 ish touches a game anyway running up and down the fat side of the wing so may as well give him a role. See how Ginni goes next few weeks but I think it’s not just a matter of avoiding the embarrassment, he’s been driving a lot of score for the hawks in that role so it could be a winning move assuming we’re any chance in that game.

On the trade itself, one thing people aren’t taking into account because it’s harder to live in the nuance, but it’s the fact that he possibly would have gone on a downhill trajectory with us. Fly ‘sacking’ him may very well have been the catalyst for him pulling his head in, losing many of his antics (anyone notice he doesn’t drop the knees anymore?) and getting serious about his footy and roles. Also, with our already slow team he would not shine as much, it’s 2026 and he doesn’t play the crumbing forward role anymore, his kicks work because he has Weddle and Impey behind him, Newcombe next to and Watson forward to take territory with speed.

I think contrition is the difference- Ginnivan rolling up to mad Monday in jockey silks, to rub it into the Club’s face was telling.
I must be the only one who thought that was actually funny.
The season was over, he fronted up in jockey silks, so what!
I think people have lost their sense of humour.

He was making light of a **** up that the club didn’t have much tolerance for. Hardly indicative of maturity

There's a massive difference between being a talented d/h who's worth a kids gloves approach up to a point and someone completely disrespecting the coach and values of the Club.
IQ aside who has a very strong bond with him for one or another reason, Ginny was on the nose with the playing group.
Getting rid of him always had the potential to backfire and feels a lot worse now due to the state of our list but he had to go.
No ifs or buts.

We were impatient. Young country bogan gets a heap of fanfare in the city lights and then doesn't work hard enough or follow team rules the following year. He won't be the last on that path.

The 30 year old pros also being impatient with the cocky kid doesn't mean it was the right decision.

As a player, a Gryan Miers level linker was always really likely, but he needed to work hard to build his fitness, which he appears to have done. Good luck to him.

Thriving at his boyhood club. He’s working hard at a level he was never gonna do with us.
