and sometimes not so many.

Very poetic words magpie_joffa however spirit and poetry doesn't win football games. The cold hard facts of the magpies over the last 11 years is of a club that has been mismanaged off the field, poor recruiting and a lack of talent on the field. The magpie army have been the one positive out of the club in recent years. Their attendance at games even when the side are playing poorly is fantastic.

We oppostion supporters love to kick the pies when they are down but it is much more enjoyable when the pies are going well and your team knocks them off. We all know a feral magpie supporter, or three, and the Monday morning ring around to hang shite after a magpie loss is one of the great traditions in Melbourne.

So good luck next year and expect a post after you have just been beaten by the Saints.

The collingwood spirit lives on - but not at collingwood. Hawthorn were that in the seventies and eighties and Now the crows are the 'mighty ferals' of the league

If something doesn't happen soon the pies will be irrellevant. And Eddie ? Please, didn't you guys learn from Ranald McDonald ?

What about Alan McAllister going into property investment - controversial at the time but not as bad as the present lot flogging the lot at a loss a few months before a property boom.

I agree with Bloodstained Angel. You'd think that Collingwood were the only club to exhibit pride after reading some of the passionate, yet misguided posts on this topic.

All clubs at one time or another have shown great pride and honour in various victories. Collingwood is no different to any other club.

It could even be 'argued', that the massive turnover of players at Collingwood over the last 5 years, indicates that they may not have played with the same pride that Magpie-Joffa was alluding to.

They do seem to lift against Essendon though. Our victories over them in recent seasons have been narrow. In fact, between 1990 and 1998 we lost a lot more than we won. Why do the Magpies lift a cog against Essendon ? ?

The Magpies have always done well against North too. They've given us some beltings over the past few years....and I remember during Shaw's first or second year of coaching, they were on an 8 or 9 game losing streak, we were flying, and they gave us a hiding.....even after we got the first 5 (yes, FIVE) goals of the match.
