Collingwood - The Following (By Mags)
There is no doubt what so ever that The Collingwood Football Club has the hugest following in The Afl. When we are winning it is even huger.
The talk at the moment is that Essendon have the biggest following in the competion, sure they have the highest membership figures in the Afl with 36,055 people as members, But how many of those fans are all loyal? I ask.
Collingwood currently has over 31,000 members (exact figure unknown) for this season and still growing as we make a progression towards the finals since season 1994. Of those 31,000 members we can say most are very much loyal towards this club of ours.
We have been down you know what creck since the early 90’s and now its all coming back in glory and our supporters all coming back too us.
Collingwood will supurs Essendon in the membership stakes for sure if we do very succesful and go well in this year’s season and finals system and hopefully a flag which would do this club wonders. We are a contender again, but us pie fans are not expecting a flag this year as we are still rebuliding and though it still wont suprise us as we have played some very good football this year.
The latest Roy Morgon survey has Sydney at the top of that list, nationwide, the Swans now have 500,000 more supporters than the next favourite AFL club is Essendon. Of those 1,289,000 people that so call, call themselves Swans fans, how many just reconsie the Swans name and how many on average go to the Sydney Cricket Ground too support there club? Only about 30,000 for the season 2001.
Collingwood on the other hand have been drawing crowds of just over 50,000 this season just under Essendon. Essendon will not be able to cop with another 10,000 members (which they think they can get) on top of the 36,000 they already have due to the restrictions brought upon by the Stadium they play at, Which is Colonial. It just cant happen, Football Park is sold out for the year for Crows matches and they wont take anymore members then it is and have a huge waiting list as does West Coast for there games at Subiaco Oval.
Collingwood’s smart thinking to stay/move to the Melbourne Cricket Ground will mean a much huger rise in attendances and membership figures.

But In All Honsety, Who Real Gives A Rats Arse About Essendon
We Are The Biggest Following And The Biggest Crowd Drawer In The Afl.
