Rhyce Shaw has been approached about his interest in moving to Collingwood to further his coaching traineeship, with a view to taking over from Buckley in 2020 in a smooth transition.

Shaw was 2016 coach of the year in the NEAFL competition for the Swans reserves and has been credited with getting the new players Sydney has relied on the last 12 months, ready for AFL level.

Wouldn't go from coaching a NEAFL team to a big chair. Stupidity of the highest order. It is Collingwood though so I'm on board with this one. :thumbsu:

Rumour confirmed. Thread certified correct. :rainbow:

A coaching traineeship under Buckley? Surely coaching a NEAFL team is better preparation than that.

True but Shaw has done some great things at Sydney in the reserves.
Wouldn't matter if he coached ManU to a title in his spare time, there's no way we go down that path again, and as the previous poster stated, he's a Shaw which makes it even less likely, i have nothing against Reece FWIW, but it just won't happen unless Reece has success at another AFL club and then decides to come home.
