If it's a Collingwood home game?
If Collingwood is happy, why not? If the goal is to have a contrasting jumper set where the visiting team meets the home requirements it's a perfect match.

Collingwood values the history of this fixture and wants a traditional looking matchup, so this fits the bill just fine.

Long term I hope we switch to predominantly white kit but for the moment, I disagree with Eddie - should be up to the away team to avoid the clash/contrast issue

Apologies for bumping this but when this story first came up the idea of Collingwood embracing the gold in their branding came to mind and I didn't have hardware/software at the time to put this design together.... until now. It's fairly primitive but if Collingwood kept things simple they could absolutely use gold against the likes of Carlton and Geelong.

Love the idea of including gold into our designs but this might be a bit too much :p

This where it all goes pear shaped.

I respect how Eddie has finally said "look there's a clash, so we'll make a clash jumper with home sponsors and black shorts next season". Well it doesn't work like that. If Geelong and previously North have to wear white shorts with their white jumpers then so does Collingwood (be interesting to see how the AFL goes about this)

Eddie has also contributed to the problem by somewhat demanding Collingwood play against the Dark old navy blues. It's not even up to him, and the AFL should have said "sorry but there's a clash".

Reality is, Carlton home games aren't the issue, but Carlton should be told or forced to wear a clash jumper in Collingwood home games regardless of what Eddies demands or thoughts are, or regardless what perceived Big 4 clash rules are in place.

He does deserve praise for finally getting there. He, a person whose voice holds a helluva lot of weight, has got there, and voiced this, and something will likely happen. Little old you and me on Bigfooty don't have that kind of volume.
Sometimes we need to not be angry about the cause of the issue and be happy about steps towards resolution and growth. Especially when those two things come from the same place.

No praise for Eddie here, His pig headedness has caused this. We had white 'home' jumpers made up as far back as 06/07. these jumpers was earmarked to be worn against St kilda but apparently Eddie made a 'captain's call'

That said, if you're pig-headed, and eventually come to your senses and make a smart decision, praise for making said decision. Not as much as if you didn't make dumb ones first, but still.

At least come out and say you've stuffed up. The way Eddie was talking it's as if he had a 'Eureka' moment the night before and was shouting it to the world on MMM breakfast. Eddie is very cleaver in sweeping past mistakes under the carpet and then comping out in true saviour fashion to fix said problems.

Fair, but still, some credit for getting there. You still get paid the mark if you spilled the previous attempt trying to be a showoff.

I remember the 2010 Grand Finals and Eddie kept moving the jumper goal post until he got his way by pulling out the rule book after losing a coin toss when nobody would have given a flying * if Collingwood had worn their white based jumper and St Kilda the black tri-colour because that would have been the best look in fact everyone would have been happy with it except for Eddie.

EDIT: Apologies for the thread necromancy. Also aparently this new paradigm isn't for pre-season matches.
