Ginnivan still wearing Collingwood colours, which means the trade period is already a POSITIVE
Ginni is a 20yo kid that had a huge reality check this year. Fly looks like backing him in to get his arse super fit and force himself into the 22 every week. If that doesn’t eventuate then I guess next year they may listen to offers

I don't. Stevo nearly won us a flag.
Naughton would have if given the chance. Wouldn't have been traded for peanuts to North. Naughton wouldn't have urinated in Noble's drink. Naughton wouldn't have made a multi about his own performance or been a WWE star in the hub.

Maybe. And me too. But this is not a megatrade. It’s just Collingwood doing 3 simple trades in sequence

Adams for 33.

19 and 33 for 11.

11 for Shultz.

Nothing mega about it.
Just keep it simple and give them 19 for Schulz. As much as we're into him he's only a 550-600k/year free agent, which only gets them a second round pick when he hits UFA year.

The push should be take the pick that is offered now or take your chances with a disaffected player and an FA compo system which wont get you any better compensation (and possibly something worse) next year.

I've spoken to Naughton about this. He's adamant that he would have pissed in Noble's drink.

Upgraded the capacity to provide specific picks after the Buddy deal went through. They’d get a much higher compensation now than they did then.

I strongly doubt they would, as the premiers getting early first round compensation for a big FA departure would have and still would be contrary to every equality measure the AFL champions. Let's not forget the Hawks won two more flags and finished top 4 again in the following three years.

I just find it difficult to figure where his long term position will be . We know he’s clever around the sticks , he’s not gifted with speed , poor overhead , lacks defensive pressure. He can work on his endurance but that will take more than this pre season . If we get Schultz ginny will be fringe at best in our fwd set up.He won’t be playing up the ground either in 2024 , there’s no one he will be replacing in that role . Stanger things have happened and I like the kid . It’s just a tough gig .

I have the same doubts I’m just hoping for a miracle I guess. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It is tough but the coaches would have an idea. Preseason will be an interesting watch to see the kind of roles he is playing especially once in top shape. In the last couple months at match sim they had been training him on the wing/centre bounce and moving forward. Then he mentioned defensive mid fwd in his interview. I noticed his pressure has increased a lot since the bye. Hopefully they keep working with him on that.

Ahh ok, I think Buckley might have something to answer for though?

The whole club had a jack of him in the bubble, Buckley and players tried to help him.

Couldn't even get himself up for breakfast, spent all night playing COD.

Dumb as dog sh*t.

I get the whole contract angle one, but I feel like there’s a bit of Schultz’s truth, Fremantle’s truth and the real truth to it. By that I mean if Fremantle knew he was always a flight risk they were never going to be able to sign him long term so they possibly did the best they could by signing him to rolling 1 year deals for as long as possible.

For instance I’d be shitty if Henry signed a couple of 1 year deals for 2023 and 2024 then requested a trade to Geelong only for Geelong nuffies to then say “herp derp you should have signed him long term”…
I agree it was a bit of Schultz's truth that he walked back a little even in the interview. Real truth he got a 2 year contract for 2019-20, then with the covid kerfuffle had the delist and re rookie for 1 year. This was the thing that got the "younger Lachies" nose out of joint. He then signed for 2 years with a trigger for 3, which fired off in 23, leaving him still in contract. He has had 1 one year contract by my count.
