Classic CARLTON

Out: 1st Rd, 2nd Rd, 4th Rd, 5th Rd

In: Four Mediocre NEAFL Players, One Mediocre WAFL Player (Pick 8)
In what world is Plowman mediocre? had injuries but can seriously play hence Carlton were happy enough to give up Menzel to Adelaide for the pick

North and Brisbane have stuffed us over beautifully re Aish. By swapping 17 for Bastinac and a stack of second round picks:
- Brisbane now have enough points to get what their Academy kids this year, and have already got Bell and Bastinac.
- North now have a pick before us in the ND, that Aish definitely won't get past, before we pick
- Carlton will get him if he goes in the PSD.

Let's the Lions shift the goal posts on us last minute and say they only want 2016 picks and basically give them a pretext to not trade with us. Aish's options then are re-sign with the Lions or go to North or the Blues.

They've shafted us as well as they can.
- and continue too!

I think it is a massive effort by Hine and co. if the Treloar and/or Aish deals get done.

For weeks, they have combated external forces working to sabotage us. Last night's video leak being the latest challenge. There are too many media and other club executive rumours and innuendo to list here. When you line up the free ride Dangerfield and Geelong were given compared to the difficulties presented to us with Treloar it is outrageous.

In addition, how has Silvagni been given a free ride by the media, AFL and GWS over this four-player trade? It's almost scandalous that he has brokered this deal with his former employer without question.

If anything falls through it will be because we won't be bent over and reamed just for fun.

For what it's worth, GWS have entered scum territory for me. I hope the falafel flogs fail big time now.

Just a comment on the "megadeal" involving Howe and Kennedy

Melbourne received Kennedy and picks No.29 and 50 and gave up Howe and Toumpas;
Port Adelaide received Toumpas and pick No.32 and gave up picks No.29, 50 and 68;

So looking at it from Melbourne's point of view, if Howe was worth around pick 29, then Toumpas was the pick 50
or looking at it from Port's point of view, if pick 50 could upgrade a pick 32 to a pick 29, then Toumpas would end up being the pick 68.

Both trades indicate that Toumpas was worth something less than a pick 50. This is a guy who was pick 4 in the 2012 draft. We've seen guys like Aish who was a pick 7 get far more fanfare than Toumpas. Brisbane wanting a first rounder for him. Collingwood wanting a first rounder for Freeman and eventually getting a mid 20s pick. There are other examples....and in the corner is Toumpas who was rated a far higher draft pick and was playing with a hopeless club and he gets moved along for the whiff of an oily rag....

Now good luck for Port to be to manage the trade, but I cant see much sense in some of the trading. You might argue that the kid has proved himself to be a dud.... well from his Melbourne highlights he has looked pretty good. He can certainly get and dispose of the ball far better than Ben Kennedy could... and he was playing with a dud team.

And the trade hardly gets mentioned. I keep wondering what sort of profile the trade would have had if Collingwood had registered an interest in getting Toumpas. You got to be jealous of a team like Port and its ability to operate so far under the radar. I suppose no one outside of Port Adelaide is interested in the team and the few inbreds that live in that ghetto probably cant read the newspaper...
Toumpas is a total potato.

Won't be on an AFL list in 4 years.

Is there any other teams?
GWS have a future second rounder for Hampton, apparently, maybe we could get that instead of 2015 pick 28?
The use of 2 x future 2nds on Aish also would enable us to retain 26 this year so we at least have 1 pick inside 30 for Hine to work his magic.

No doubt these deals are complex when significant egos are involved. Hine knows the games and has negotiated some terrific outcomes in recent years. I don't think Gubby Allen will have many friends left at Collingwood though.
Gubby hasn't had many friends at Collingwood since his Brisbane days.

Apparently Lions want two second rounders, surely we just hand that over? Pretty simple deal....
Can be done but not that simple. Can't trade our own future 2nd as we are trading our own future first pick. We would need to source another future 2nd from somewhere else to go with the future Freeman 2nd.

I'm interested to hear comments from many players across clubs from this trade period after tomorrows dead line. Also interested how the AFL interpret the happenings of this week, they've been pretty quiet to date.
