I was interested to hear comments from Trav Cloke the other day (on radio I think) when he said that the club weren't happy with how the two man ruck combo was working. Writing on the wall for big Wittsy? I do think Grundy plays a lot better as the solo #1 guy but it would be very risky to go in with no decent back up (Cox is still a fair way off). We might have to take a punt if we need the picks. Maybe we could land a mature ager a la Ben Hudson in the rookie draft as insurance.
I think if we lose to Sydney giving us 0% chance of making the 8 then perhaps they should gift cox 2-3 games to see if he can step up and fill the void of witts. if he can then trading witts becomes an option

Justin Sherman and Andrew Walker both nominated us 5 years ago but we could only land one. With players as in-demand and valuable as Aish and Treloar are, chances are it'll be about 10 times harder to land both.

and again, Witts is a fringe player by virtue of not being a lock-in starter. Don't know how you can deny this.
vaild point. but the new trade rule does make it a little easier being able to give away 1st rnd draft picks for 2016

I agree with your points and perhaps given that we would give up a lot of our early draft picks I Would consider perhaps someone like the Ex geelong player Mitch Brown as he fits that 23 24 years of age theory.
To be honest I don't know enough about Mitch, haven't watched him play often enough.

I like what North have found with Ben Brown. He's 22, 200cm and 99kg. 18 goals in 11 games last year and 25 so far this year. Taken at pick 47 after injuries and a shaky start. Shows what can be done later in the draft, but of course it becomes more speculative as you get lower in a shallow draft.

Of course I'd also love to throw cash at Lynch from GC, he's a weapon, but will be hard to budge and we don't have a bottomless pit of cash to shower all these players in.

In any case I think we are going to have some exciting names coming to the club that will assist with the next flag. We're all guessing from there on in.

On a side note, it's been snowing outside my window for about an hour here in Canberra. Which is nice.

How do you know that he was partying too much? Not saying you are wrong. Just genuinely curious.

You would think he was delisted because of Witts and Grundy being ahead of him.
I don't know for 100% fact, but there were allot of rumours on here at the time and also the way Collingwood spoke about getting rid of players to suit culture. I also know at the time selection wise he was dominating at VFL level we were screaming out for a ruckman and we still didn't select him

Yep and Callum Sinclair at West Coast is another example. Clubs have wised up to the fact the big guys take a while.

I'd be targetting someone like Ben Brown or Sinclair that can pinch hit in the ruck as a mature ager rather than a Mitch Brown. Especially if we do decide to move Witts on. They need to be that 199 -200 cm range though rather than a Jess White 196cm.

I think even if Aish hadn't played a game, or had played 10 zero-touch games in a row, he'd still be worth our second round pick and a player like Seedsman at a very minimum.

You don't give away a top ten pick away for nothing of value.

For some perspective, if Freeman was looking like wanting to go north, we'd want a return on what we gave up to begin with. Even though he's injury prone and yet to debut.

He would command it because clubs are prepared to pay it. He's the most hyped prospect from South Australia for a long time.

Treloar very much is up to the same standard as Beams by virtue of what he's being offered. If he's being offered 800k over 7 years by Richmond, then he's not going for anything less than 2 first rounders.

Witts is a fringe player and it's not up for debate; anyone who doesn't have a cemented spot in the side is by definition a fringe player. I can give you a 100% guarantee he won't end up at the Dogs next year.
They don't need a ruckman. Ayce Cordy is going to break out in his 8th year

Collingwood could secure midfield pair Adam Treloar and James Aish as part of a double hit in this year’s trade period.

The Pies remain in the box seat to secure Greater Western Sydney’s Treloar using its first-round draft choice in a trade with the Giants, They could still emerge as the preferred destination for Aish as well, 12 months after the Magpies failed to secure the wingman as part of the Dayne Beams deal.

Collingwood will attempt to use their first draft pick on Treloar, and would have to offer Brisbane a secondary selection, and possibly defender Paul Seedsman, for Aish.

Brisbane has already ruled out accepting a straight swap of Aish for Seedsman.

The Lions will adopt a hard-line stance at this year’s trade period and demand a first-round pick or gun forward for Aish, after losing five quality young players two various rivals two years ago.

Sounds like a good pair of deals if the Pies can secure them.

Will need a sweetener to land Aish but on the other hand given his form this year a straight swap for Seedsman is not out of the question. But at the end of the day Aish is a top ten pick and shoudl not have delcined in value too much. We should sweeten the offer. Seedsman and a second round pick perhaps?

Apparently Brisbane have enquired about Oxley, meaning that at least there's a line of dialogue between our clubs.

I reckon the Lions would deal with us fairly, it's better to deal with the devil you know that one you don't, and their recruitment staff would have spent hours with ours last year during the Beams deal.

I'd even be ok with Oxley and Seedsman for Aish if the Lions don't want our second round pick.

Think GWS would ask more then just a 1st Round Pick
