Kreuzer would be a formidable #1 ruck provided he can stay healthy. Has had an injury history that rivals Reid, so that's a big question mark already. But regardless, he isn't much of a permanent forward. He's been trialled before when Warnock got games as the #1 ruck.

Doesn't know when and where to lead, gets caught running under the ball too often and isn't a great contested mark. I say this in all honesty when Witts or Cox are better options. Witts has good leading patterns (just not strong enough to mark anything) whereas Cox is getting more capable by the game, with impressive physical attributes that might translate into him being a good second KPF.
I would definitely consider Kreuzer and I wouldn't have said that a few years back to be honest. I think he's starting to hit his prime now as a ruckman and if he can avoid any more serious injuries then he's definitely worth considering.

However obtaining him as a 'restricted' free agent would mean one of Grundy or Witts would probably have to be offloaded. I suspect Witts would be the one the club would eventually trade away as I think Grundy has more upside and will become the better player of the two but at the moment there's nothing to suggest he'll go to Collingwood. According to Terry Wallace, he believes the Bulldogs should strongly consider Kreuzer especially in light of Will Minson being on the outer over there.

I also agree that a thorough medical should be undertaken if we do strongly consider Kreuzer.

On holidays in Broadbeach at the moment.

Just read the paper........Gold Coasts Rory Thompson & Jaeger still haven't signed.

Apparently at a stalemate.

I rate Thompson as a defender. Could be a good back up if Reid doesn't get on the park again.

$500,000 per year for a back up is a fait bit of coin.

That article also mentioned that Lynch and O''Meara have contacts expiring next year. If either of them show interest in leaving, expect and epic bidding war. Both are outstanding.

I would really like to pick up Aaron Hall...

Pace and an extroadinary goal sense.
Shown he can play through the midfield too, his stocks have risen very sharply.

Tigers would have to be very keen also, costs less than Motlop but potentially could produce the same.

I haven't been a massive Kreuzer fan over the journey but he looks to be entering the purple patch of his career. He is a big unit and has been rucking very well.

The real benefit of grabbing him is that he is a Free Agent. If he wasn't a Free Agent I wouldn't be that hot on him, but getting him allows us to:

a/. grab a ruck who is ready to dominate now without giving away a draft pick
b/. to then trade out one of our rucks for a first round pick which we then might be able to use on Weideman or to add to 1st pick to get Treloar
c/. this would sort out our ruck age-profile and succession issues: a senior 26 year old ruck, a developing 21/22 year-old ruck to take over, a project ruck
d/. we can actually start to win or break-even at centre bounces

I think we squander our midfield talent at the moment by not being able to compete at centre bounces owing to our young rucks. I don't want to wait two more seasons to have us become competitive there.

Kreuzer I think can work as a resting forward depending on the opposition. He can be tethered to the goal-square and is capable of taking a mark or getting infringed in the process by holding his position. We can more slowly develop our remaining young ruck.

The other thing is with Cox coming on well, we don't want to end up like Carlton of a few years ago where they had Jacobs, Hampson, Warnock and Kreuzer - all capable of rucking and running down their currency in a game of musical chairs.

GC want to turf McKenzie Matera and Bennell.. if we were confident of turning their individual culture problems around we could target a superdeal involving Witts Oxley Seedsman and picks

All 3 fill a desperate need

Bennel will be a top 5 player in the comp in 2 years, that drug scandal was his massive wake up call
You can tell by the way he has played since returning.
Would be exactly what we needed at the pies.

For a team that prides itself on forward pressure, it astounds me that a player that lazy pressure-wise gets a game
Although I do think he has improved tremendously in that area from where he was, and he is now currently 18th in the comp for tackles inside 50, the best at our club.

Last weeks game was a big let down, but the Fas man has been one of the big improvers this second half of the season, would be awful if we traded him.

Yeah but stats fails to show that he his a player who never leaves the forward 50 so he plays inside 50 for 100% of the game

Players like wingard are above him on that list, who spend more time up the ground.

That stat is next to irrelevant

Haven't seen a lot of him recently but was absolutely super when he first came on the scene. That might be a super acquisition.

I agree. I was a big critic of his lazy efforts but this year he has been very strong defensively.

We've tried Simon Buckley and Clinton Young in that QB role that can get it over the top of the press with limited success, Macka would be plug and play!
