Treloar, Bennell, Dangerfield... so many good names floating around..

i will be fairly annoyed if we don't land one.
It will be catastrophic for this board if we don't; our collective hopes are hanging on the A grade talent on the market.

For some reason I just can't see us landing Dangerfield, though.

I have no doubt we will land at least 1 big name in the following order:

Treloar (Almost certain)
Aish (Highly likely)
Kreuzer (possibly as I believe he was a Pies fan as a kid. Also a free agent, but he will be in demand for that reason)
Carlisle (possibly but not likely due to demand from other clubs pushing his price up)

Danger (I have no idea on this one)

Bennell (I don't think Bucks would be after him but maybe we should be)

We have also had Reid, Sidey and Elliott re sign on what I would imagine to be much higher wages. Since 2011, I doubt anyone would have re-signed for unders. I think the cash surplus is a bit of a fallacy.
Another way to think about this in the last two years of list changes. These categories are based on wage estimations not football output:

Outs

High: Didak, Thomas, Shaw, Beams, Jolly

Mid:
Maxwell, Johnson, Ball, Lynch, Lumumba, Keeffe, J Thomas,

Low: Russell, Krakouer, Clarke

Ins

High:
-

Mid: Adams, Varcoe, Greenwood, White, Elliot, Grundy,

Low: Crisp, Dwyer, Witts, Broomhead, De Goey, Moore, Maynard, Abbott, Blair, Frost, Langdon, Kennedy, Williams, Oxley, Ramsay, Scharenberg, Marsh, Gault, Seedsman, Karnezis, Freeman, Sinclair.

To my way of thinking the mid-cost outs cover the cost of our mid-cost ins easily. And there are plenty of outs in the next little while which cover the wage demands of our established mid-aged players like Reid and Sidebottom. Young will surely go at the end of this contract. White will go at the end of next year.

I reckon we have a shitload of money to splash on high-end players right now with front-end contracts while our young kids will earn money later on when Swan retires and Cloke gets a contract which is comparable to his late career output.

I hate to bring this up, but I don't think we have a need for White anymore as a KPF. As long as Reid and Moore are fit, he"ll probably never play for the Pies again.
I've always thought that he could be Blicvas-like... 3rd man-up midfielder. By all reports he has a massive tank.

If he doesn't change his game, we could just trade him for a second rounder.

I guess it really comes down to, how quickly Moore can regularly influence a game or at least pull his weight. Currently White is in front of him and will be for at least next couple of years - only benefit of playing Moore to get him to AFL standard sooner. Also are we a better side with Reid back (hoping with some match fitness he can find All Australian form) or forward with Brown / Marsh / Frost, all average stoppers with average kicks who don't take marks.

what is clokes value on the open market..?

we could land a top 10 pick id think from the likes of a freo or bris.
I'll bite, even though there's no chance of us trading Cloke now.

His value on the open market after his last 2 seasons would be at a career low I reckon.

Maybe a late first round pick for him might be all you'd get, his prime is behind him and this will be the second year in a row he hasn't passed 40 goals in the season.

But for us he holds much more value then one single draft pick does. He can take the pressure of Moore, Cox, Witts and Grundy while they all learn to develop the forward side of their game.

I still think at 28 that he has at least 4 more seasons left in him, so there's 0% chance that we trade him.

IF it was not a top 10 Pick then we might as well keep him. IF he could get us a Top 5 I be Tempted to Trade Him
