I had a dream last night, that the ‘Pies had a wonderful trade period, not only trading for Adam Treloar, Jake Carlisle & James Aish, but nabbing Dangerfield & Kreuzer as free agents as well. Sure, we had to cough up our first round pick for Treloar, but we managed to snag a few extra picks ourselves & only gave up a couple of players for Aish. Here’s how things panned out:

Traded for Aish:

BEN SINCLAIR – Brisbane snapped him up when we offered him as part of the Aish deal. They weren’t sure of his footballing ability, but their list manager thought his “High Maintenance” series was brilliant, so to add someone with so much creativity to the playing group can only be good…..can’t it?

CLINTON YOUNG – also part of the Aish trade, the list manager vaguely remembered watching an interview with CLINTON “LEE” YOUNG who had been on death row in Texas for murder (which is obviously why he hadn’t been playing seniors for the ‘Pies recently), and figured he had the kind of mongrel in him that the Lions sorely needed!

Players we traded out:

JARRYD BLAIR – the Bulldogs gave up their 2nd round pick as they were worried about the physical damage the piggyback races held each training session were having on Caleb Daniel, and they reckon pairing him with Jarryd might prolong his career.

JESSE WHITE – the Dons traded Carlisle to us, along with their 2nd round pick, as they thought they were getting two players that would fit into their “training regime,” i.e. JESSE Pinkman & Walter WHITE. Fortunately for us the trade had already been finalized before they realized their mistake.

PATRICK KARNEZIS –Carlton gave us their 2nd round pick for this bloke, plus a swap of 4th round picks. It’s been a long time since their halcyon “Aussie Greek” days when they had the likes of Alex Marcou, Ang Christou, Anthony Kououfides, etc. running around, so they thought they’d bring in Patty K to try & rediscover their mojo.

JOSH THOMAS – again Carlton, this time their 3rd round pick, cos’ any bloke with the surname THOMAS, having played for Collingwood, MUST be good, right?

ALEX FASOLO – Gold Coast offered a 2nd round pick as Rod’s favourite movie is The Sound of Music, and his favourite song is Do-Re-Mi, so it was a no-brainer…..”do re mi FA SOL LA ti…”

I know, I know, now it's just getting silly.........:D

I hate to bring this up, but I don't think we have a need for White anymore as a KPF. As long as Reid and Moore are fit, he"ll probably never play for the Pies again.
I've always thought that he could be Blicvas-like... 3rd man-up midfielder. By all reports he has a massive tank.

If he doesn't change his game, we could just trade him for a second rounder.
I like him on the list. I still think he has a role as a second ruck/third tall and key forward depth.

the thought 0f trading cloke is wrong we have nothing yet to replace him with yet. hell far do u what to go done the ladder
td u thought last half the season was bad, how about the whole season like shit, a lot
of key boarders have to thing a bit more. do u want a total rebuild and late on the ladder
or a chance to play finals
I'm framing this and hanging it on the wall.

It's quite laughable that GWS think Treloar is worth more than pick 7.
I mean compare his career to Beams' and it's not even close in output and achievements. Pick 5 and a fringe player at absolute best ala a Jack Crisp. No way he is worth 2 picks.

Well it is a Very Weak Draft. So I am not Surprised IF GWS want more then our 1st Pick

Remember for the Beams trade it was Picks 5, 25 (on traded for Greenwood) and Crisp. It wasn't just Pick 5 and Crisp. If we are going on the theory that Treloar is not worth as much then you would probably just drop the fringe player and value him at the first and second round draft selection as I don't think the difference in value is that great.

Remember too that the access to future draft selections for trades will change the value of things as well as clubs have access to additional collateral for trades that they didn't have before.

Might even have to add a 2nd 2nd Round Pick

His projection also needs to be factored into his trade value.

He projects to be a top 10-15 player in the comp within 2-3 years years.

Easily worth 2 picks or a pick and a very decent player.

I know it was 5, 25 and Crisp for Beams however look at what Beams achieved in comparison. He was already a top 10 mid in the comp and an AA to boot. Proven elite quality.

The new trade rules will add flexibility but I wouldn't pay overs for Treloar.

Projection? It's about what we are buying now. Beams was a top 10 mid and AA to boot. Treloar isn't in the same class.

We'll be sending two draft picks GWS's way. What draft picks and what year will depend on the talks. The deal for Treloar is done, the trade isn't. I hope we get it out of the way early just incase people like Shaz, Kennedy etc seek greener pastures and give us higher picks that GWS will end up wanting.

Ive been saying this for a while....TRY WHITE @ Centre half back.....he is ok in a straight line and can punch the ball and is athletic enough.....TRY IT...!!!!
What difference would it make? Frost is fast in a straight line and very good at spoiling.

Our backline woes are a combination of coaching directives (push up the field and leave your man) combined with a lack of experience (opponents are left in the clear because no one notices they're loose or sets up for it until it's too late).

Another way to think about this in the last two years of list changes. These categories are based on wage estimations not football output:

Outs

High: Didak, Thomas, Shaw, Beams, Jolly

Mid:
Maxwell, Johnson, Ball, Lynch, Lumumba, Keeffe, J Thomas,

Low: Russell, Krakouer, Clarke

Ins

High:
-

Mid: Adams, Varcoe, Greenwood, White, Elliot, Grundy,

Low: Crisp, Dwyer, Witts, Broomhead, De Goey, Moore, Maynard, Abbott, Blair, Frost, Langdon, Kennedy, Williams, Oxley, Ramsay, Scharenberg, Marsh, Gault, Seedsman, Karnezis, Freeman, Sinclair.

To my way of thinking the mid-cost outs cover the cost of our mid-cost ins easily. And there are plenty of outs in the next little while which cover the wage demands of our established mid-aged players like Reid and Sidebottom. Young will surely go at the end of this contract. White will go at the end of next year.

I reckon we have a shitload of money to splash on high-end players right now with front-end contracts while our young kids will earn money later on when Swan retires and Cloke gets a contract which is comparable to his late career output.

I guess it's an outside perspective but I would say compared to 2 years ago
Cloke is a high wage
Reid is a high wage
Greenwood and Varcoe are on the same coin as Daisy and Beams were on with their final contracts
We had a few on the veterans list as well.

He was actually 11th for disposals in the league a few weeks ago, ahead of Dangerfield Cotchin etc

Bucksboys I think since your suspension you might have let the badboy image go to your head a bit what with this and your new avatar pic. It's your derrier I presume. How come cleavage is a no-no but butt cheeks are ok?
