Youre probably right, but i think thats how we should be targetting the treloar trade.
I see trading a future first rounder as far too risky. You just never know what the future will bring. It only takes 2 injuries or so.
Clearly GWS want early draft picks not players. Otherwise we could just offer pick 7 + witts to gws and be done with it
I see doggies and sydney as potentially been in the market for a ruck, and the best available are zac smith, leunberger and witts.
So there is something to work with there.
To get treloar we need to find the 2nd first rounder...if we want aish as well.
Should Treloar choose us my thought process is 2015-2016 1st rounders + a little extra currency to have GWS tack a Hampton, Sumner or Barrett on the end because I just don't see any of Witts, Frost or Kennedy etc. having the clout to get the trade over the line.
I also don't see it with Aish. I have no doubt he'll be a player, but I think supporters are getting sucked in by the potential bargain and overlooking that we have a better and more versatile version of Aish already on the list in Broomhead.
If I had my way I'd look to make a move on Oxley to say a Carlton or GC who will both have 4 picks by 25 so the need to hold onto their third rounder is limited and then move that to GWS. My understanding of the system is that if they then pass with that selection on draft night (highly likely with Hopper, Kennedy and player x already drafted) the points are re-allocated to their selections next year which is a huge benefit to them with 4 likely types in the 2016 draft.
In the end it results in:
Collingwood: Hampton + Treloar
GWS: Collingwood pick 8 2015 & 1st pick 2016 + Carlton pick 42
Carlton: Oxley
I'd walk away after that because the list doesn't need much tinkering, IMO, and it still leaves us with two top 50 picks this year. It's also an optimistic view of things because I wouldn't give a top 60 pick for Oxley, but I think a club out there will like him.
