Can't see how we'd have the currency to get both Treloar and Bennell unless we land another first round selection.

Expect Gold Coast to allow Hawthorn to bend them over and thank them while they're at it.

I think I know what you're saying Ketchup.

The other day on radio they were discussing Geelongs aged list profile and how one of the things that intensified the problem for them was their 2009 draft which was Scott's first draft which was meant to be the next generation coming through. Cristensen, Cowan, Menzel. Two of them have had injury luck from hell and Cristensen had a touch of the Wayne Carey's. You lose those three guys and you've lost your middle tier. It's what you hope and pray doesn't happen with that 2013 group of ours - Scharenberg buggers off and Freeman never sees the light of day. Plus from the year before Kennedy looks like not making it and Broomy has so far been injury prone.

For those reasons I think your point is a valid one. I'd do almost anything to get Trelaor on our list but hope we can avoid that outcome as well.

Seedsman & pick 1 2016 should be enough for Bennell.

I rate him a lot higher than Aish.

The Hawks first pick wouldn't be enough for a gun like Bennell.........even with a Suckling added to the mix.

On the flipside I'd be ropeable if Collingwood were on the way up and then traded a first rounder for a developing ruckman (anyone remember Cam Wood?). If the Bulldogs trade that selection I'd be shocked if it came our way for Witts.
Youre probably right, but i think thats how we should be targetting the treloar trade.

I see trading a future first rounder as far too risky. You just never know what the future will bring. It only takes 2 injuries or so.

Clearly GWS want early draft picks not players. Otherwise we could just offer pick 7 + witts to gws and be done with it

I see doggies and sydney as potentially been in the market for a ruck, and the best available are zac smith, leunberger and witts.

So there is something to work with there.

To get treloar we need to find the 2nd first rounder...if we want aish as well.

Word is that Hawks are into Jaeger too, that would cost them their first pick and god knows what more.

Explain? They're very similar styled players, Wingard kicks more goals though.
Wingard is quicker, gets more of the ball, is a more creative field kick, crumbs a lot better, is more evasive in close and is better with snap goals. Chad is just about the complete small forward, especially since he can play as a genuine mid to offset the low possessions and involvements that small forwards can occasionally have.

He's better than Elliott in just about every facet of the game that's most relevant for a livewire small forward. That's not to say Elliott is shit, Elliott provides more defensive pressure, he has better leading patterns to make himself a marking target upfield, he's better overhead in a 1v1, and he's more accurate at goal, especially set shots. Really, if Elliott became more creative with his grossly underrated field kicking and was a more natural crumber, he'd just about be a complete small forward too without any real discernible weaknesses.

I actually think Elliott isn't that close to Wingard in style. Elliott reminds me more of LeCras with Medhurst's aerial ability.

Are we linked to bennel anywhere or this is just pure hypothetical and speculation?
Blind hope more than anything.

Should Treloar choose us my thought process is 2015-2016 1st rounders + a little extra currency to have GWS tack a Hampton, Sumner or Barrett on the end because I just don't see any of Witts, Frost or Kennedy etc. having the clout to get the trade over the line.

I also don't see it with Aish. I have no doubt he'll be a player, but I think supporters are getting sucked in by the potential bargain and overlooking that we have a better and more versatile version of Aish already on the list in Broomhead.

If I had my way I'd look to make a move on Oxley to say a Carlton or GC who will both have 4 picks by 25 so the need to hold onto their third rounder is limited and then move that to GWS. My understanding of the system is that if they then pass with that selection on draft night (highly likely with Hopper, Kennedy and player x already drafted) the points are re-allocated to their selections next year which is a huge benefit to them with 4 likely types in the 2016 draft.

In the end it results in:

Collingwood: Hampton + Treloar
GWS: Collingwood pick 8 2015 & 1st pick 2016 + Carlton pick 42
Carlton: Oxley

I'd walk away after that because the list doesn't need much tinkering, IMO, and it still leaves us with two top 50 picks this year. It's also an optimistic view of things because I wouldn't give a top 60 pick for Oxley, but I think a club out there will like him.
