Stay well away from Bennell.
The last thing we need is him to go off the rails one more time because if he does, it's curtains.

Seriously? We have a 390+ page thread which is 75% about something to do with Treloar. Why start a new thread?
This. The question has been asked umpteen times in that thread and it's quite clear he's our number 1 target. Absolutely no need for a separate thread, IMO.

I'd do bad things to have a switched on Bennell in a Collingwood jumper in 2016 and beyond. Thing is though if GC re prepared to let him go it gives you a fair insight into where he's at off-field. We have enough party boys as is so thanks, but no thanks.

Bennell is Lazy and Dodgy Off-Field Problems
Can't see Bennell fit in yet. The group hasn't amalgated yet enough. Give it a few years and the team can take those type of players on and bring them in line.

Why does everyone discount Carlton? If the get a priority pick they would be in a position as good as any. And having silvagni at the club helps their cause if they're into him.

I still think we will get him ahead of the filth at Richmond and scum at Carlton but it will come at a premium.

Keeping in mind that we had to pay shaw to go to GWS for Adams I'd be willing to guess GWS will ask for our 2 first rounders this year and next.

What I'd pay at most is our first and second round this year and next years second round.

Having said that this years first and second should be enough and we will be able to trump anything Richmond offers in the way of picks. Carlton on the other hand could make life difficult. Let's not forget they gave up pick 7 for 2 spuds.
The club is not focused, too many sugar daddies and the playing list only started the nosedive. They need their picks to build , not ro trade and enhance.
Carlton won't get past a first round of finals within the next 5 years. His best 5 years.

Maybe the spelling makes it worthy of a new thread?

Because he wants to go to a club which is more likely of having some success in the next 5-6 years, which is the position that his current is likely to be in?

Because Treloar might not want to go there

That's probably his feelings and what I'm hoping. But I wouldn't put it past the bloopers to offer him a godfather deal.

After all, Yarran, Menzel, kreuzer, walker, and half of their senior list is leaving, meaning they'll have bucket loads of cash to "convince" him to go they.

Just for the record I think we'll get him. I just wouldn't put a line through the bloopers, yet.

I didn't even realise the Bennell stuff had started.

I agree that our list is too young to take him right now - if we were a few years advanced then we could probably be able to try him a bit more safely, knowing that our players will do the right thing if he's not playing ball - see Freo with Sylvia (or Hawthorn with Garlett).

Only way I would consider him is if he comes very cheap and that we are up front with him that he starts on our rookie list, with a garauntee of promotion after 6-12 months if he is consistently doing the right things - and with a contract that is strongly tied to off-field behaviours. (Thing is he clearly won't go for that because he will get much better offers from elsewhere - and I'm fine with that, let another club take the risk, and good for them if it turns out well)

But Treloar ultimately gets to decide where he will play

Personally the Bennell issue was blown a little out of proportion.

The photo was from 2 years ago and he was doing everything right on the track and in games.

But it's hard to shake the perception.
Agreed. Would be easy for him to make friends. Already has a common interest with Keefe and Thomas.
