Results really going our way this wknd.

Cats and PA winning improves out draft position to get Treloar, we can relax and not jump 3 spots up if we beat Essendon tomorrow.
Lions winning means they can't use Aish as a threat in the PSD.
Carlton get the spoon.
And the VFL team won it's finals.

And overall our draft position has improved.

The AFL needs to make some changes to the way the compensation is given. The compensation should be at the expense of the club getting the free agent. As it stands all clubs are penalized because one player, example Kruzer, wants to go to another club.
It is a weird system alright.

Imagine if Leuenberger and Kreuzer both leave and receive band 1. So Carlton and Brisbane get the first four picks. In a supposedly shallow draft, that's kind of crazy. AFL really needs to limit compensation to end of round picks. And reshuffle the tiers a bit so that departing superstars that are leaving for megabucks (700k+ a year) ensure that the team receives 2 end of round picks.
Carlton and Brisbane with four, Brisbane have another top 10 academy prospect. GWS have two regarded as possible top 10, Sydney have two also. So that's 8 or 9/10 of this years top prospects split between four clubs. GWS will get our first if we get Treloar.

So much for being past the days of compromised drafts...

Hoping like hell that Daicos and Brown are decent players so we can get in on that action next year...

It pushes back second round picks sure, but it also means that teams aren't disadvantaged at the top end with their first rounders. Which IMO is the most important bit.
That would be much better - at the moment, the clubs in the lower half, like 15th or 16th, are especially disadvantaged.

Mark Robinson was saying on the radio just a few hours ago when speaking on Carlton. That Kreuzer isn't happy with the offer that Carlton has put forward, which was I think $1.5million over 4 years. Then he revealed that Carlton are currently paying 100% of their salary which Dermie was absolutely amazed about, but then saw that it was plausible as previously, they were building for a 'premiership' side which means that they were probably paying overs on a lot of their players (and Daisy).
Robbo seemed confident in what he was saying, and if it is true and they are currently paying 100% of their salary, I would imagine that it may be hard for them to pay what Treloar is worth to other clubs.
That means Carlton have some of the richest spuds this side of Idaho. That is incredible, no, ridiculous. Whoever is in charge of rose coloured glasses down there at Optus/Visy/Whatever Oval should be introduced to the exit door. Or maybe he already has, I wouldn't know because I loathe those navy blue f***s.

The blues must be disappointed that Murphy and Gibbs aren't coming out of contract.

Who would be crazy enough to pay Kreuzer or Leuenberger the amount required to activate band 1 compensation anyway?

Leuenberger averages less than 8 disposal a game and under 20 hit outs in season 2015. He played 3 games in 2012 and just 5 in 2014.

He's nothing special.

Kreuzer is a slightly better prospect but is overrated in comparison to his career numbers and question marks over his body and ability to stay fit is real.

Both of these in reality should be low to medium cost ruck options with availability via F/A there biggest selling point.

Neither are worth a top 4 pick.

Imagine the blues get 1 & 2 and take weitering and schache. Lions will have a meltdown.

Keep hearing we are big into Kruezer . Anyone she'd any info on this,
If we're into Kreuzer then that's a double win for us.

1.) We'll get him for almost nothing.
2.) If we nail Traloar and Aish, he'll sign with the team he supportered as a kid for less then he could have gotten elsewhere. This means Carlton wouldn't get band 1. And this is very important.

Why does everyone discount Carlton? If the get a priority pick they would be in a position as good as any. And having silvagni at the club helps their cause if they're into him.

I still think we will get him ahead of the filth at Richmond and scum at Carlton but it will come at a premium.

Keeping in mind that we had to pay shaw to go to GWS for Adams I'd be willing to guess GWS will ask for our 2 first rounders this year and next.

What I'd pay at most is our first and second round this year and next years second round.

Having said that this years first and second should be enough and we will be able to trump anything Richmond offers in the way of picks. Carlton on the other hand could make life difficult. Let's not forget they gave up pick 7 for 2 spuds.
Pretty sure Treloar would have to agree too. You think he'd want to go to the basket case that is Carlton?

Considering were probably going to trade our first pick, it wouldn't matter if Carlton got and one or two, our first pick would still be pushed back. If Carlton get the two top picks then the talent would probably just waste away there instead of going to other clubs.

It does matter IMO. I want to be in a good position to compensate GWS. If these dregs, Carlton and Brisbane get band 1 compo, then we are in a worse position to compensate our good friends GWS.

I've only seen the Kruezer talk here on Big Footy. Everywhere else he is mentioned it's thought he'll stay at the Blues and the Bulldogs are the main club outside of the Blues that are interested in him. I can't actually think of anywhere in the media where we have been mentioned as a possible new home for him other than that article where Cloke mentioned him.

Although don't be surprised if they do with this what they did with Frawley from the Demons last year if Kreuzer does leave, be generous with the band ranking for compensation (and with the Lions should Leuenbeger leave) and give them a band one even if it should be band two or three, in order to give them priority picks without actually giving them priority picks.
No way that would happen, not with an independent chairman like we have.

If the contract we offer Kruezer isn't substantial the Blues would be crazy not to match it. The compo they'd receive wouldn't be worth letting him walk.

Whoever wants Kruezer will have to pay. You always have to pay overs to wrench a bloke out of their existing club. Not sure we have the coin to land him along with our other targets in Treloar and Aish.
