I would be very surprised if we hadn't inquired after McCarthy. The reality of prying him from GWS is a different beast, I would be surprised if we could satisfy their needs.

It seems to be some posturing from us. We let him know we value and rate him and if circumstances change in the future that may play in our favour if we make a play for him. We have done similar with Adams in the past, and reportedly Treloar currently.

Fwiw Number10 is not a full of shit poster. So when he says there has been talk about him I believe him.
Shucks thanks Quicky. You might have seen my post a few pages back noting where I did hear it which was at a breakfast with a panel of current AFL notables and all the players with interest came up. Treloar and McCarthy being a couple of them. Thought I would pass it on because it was exciting to hear. I don't have any other info though.

Honestly, I think we ought to be done chopping and changing players for the moment. I don't even want to see Seedsman and/or Oxley moved to Queensland for Aish. I think Aish, while good, brings a little sameness when we have Broomhead and Sidebottom. With Keeffe, Thomas, Young and Armstrong, we already meet the requirements for list changes.

Besides that, Treloar to builds up our midfield stocks, but our key need after that isn't a ruck/forward. Even if Witts doesn't work in the team, White, Moore and Cox can all play games next year. It's a strong key position forward we need to partner with Moore for the next 10 years, followed by a speed demon outside player along the lines of Stephen Hill, with our third need being a livewire crumbing small forward that can apply real pressure ala Charlie Cameron.

Kennedy might fulfill the last role, but he needs to replace Blair ASAP and stop playing inside midfield full time in the VFL.[/QUOTE]

Fully agree with your needed player priorities and the sentiments about not list chopping and changing all the time. But this year is a BIG trade year.. seems to be so much real talent available that could really fast track us. I'm EXCITED!! Kruezer is FREE in terms of giving anything up on our list. Getting him for nothing then trading Witts will only enhance our ability to land a Motlop or Bennell as well as Treloar/ Aish. Don't see how we can do it otherwise. We'd lose nothing in the swap in terms of ruck quality (probably gain a bit short term with Kruezer). Anyway I'm banging on like a broken record... I shall off to bed now..

Looks like we will give up two first rounders most likely which is a bit over

Question needs to be asked are there any top 20 picks on their list that can't get a game and have good skills they would be willing to throw in as steak knifes?

My take on it is that "The Scout" is saying he is locked in to the pies.

Is this Scout guy a reliable source

Edit that. Scout says locked but not which team. Some other guy assuming pies

But he gives us an immediate upgrade on Witts in terms of current ability and we then get a draft pick 16 to 30 for Witts. All we have to do is find the money! How is this not good for our window if it's 2017/18?
Personally, I'd rather invest is team needs then find an upgrade on a player who's playing VFL.

By 2017-2018 Grundy will be 23-24 and one of the best ruckman league wide if his development trend continues whereas Kruezer will be a ball and chain monetary investment. I'll begrudgingly accept suggestions of Witts being traded, but not to bring in Kruezer its a quick fix when one isn't required...

Pies, Tigers & Bulldogs mentioned as possible suitors for Kruezer in this article. It also reckons a contract worth $450k to $500k is worthy of a band 1 compensation pick.
That's ridiculous if 450-500k is band 1, it should be atleast 700. Considering you have to pay overs to get a RFA we're talking a clubs C+ - B graders getting the highest compensation. I hate compensation in general but if that's the limit may aswell give everyone first rounders.

I don't think free agency should be designed so clubs don't want to keep their star players.
