An exodus?

3 VFL players and a kid who hasn't played a game in his first 2 years?

Nah that's not an exodus, if anything it's a clean out. Add Dwyer, Young, Armstrong etc to the list and we are yet to lose anyone of any real value going forward. Freeman the only slight loss, and that's if he ever gets on the ground.
Agree - I'm on the "No Passengers" bandwagon. I'd rather do 3 or 4 years tough putting together a squad that can be premiership contenders for an extended period. We've got so many good VFL players running around on our list getting senior games but few you look at and go "Wow, that kids going to be something". Darcy Moore and DeGoey I can see us building a team around but those mentioned about looking at offers somewhere else, fine with me.

thats a good effort but i reckon it just falls over on Lions accepting two picks in the 20s plus Oxley for Aish. They may but i suspect they would want and someone would give them a higher end pick for it.

Also doubt that Dees would swap Kennedy for Howe in what you basically have as a straight swap. they may but I would be surprised.

Salary cap would almost certainly have burst. You have about $2m of talent there.

If you could pull that off though be outstanding.
I'd be surprised if the Lions knocked back two 2nd round picks for Aish let alone 2 picks and Oxley.

They could probably land Bell for one of those 2nd rounders and take the other to the draft.

Personally I'd rather pick 24 and 26 than just pick 18.

Weren't those guys basically pre-Clarkson/Wright?
Clarkson took over at the end of 04.

Ellis and Dowler were picked up in 05.
Thorpe in 06.

Let's be honest, the hawks nailed 2 drafts and traded brilliantly along the way to get where they are now. Plus some wise selections in Smith, Hill, Stratton, Duryea, Poppy and Shiels.

Ok, so he got 2 or 3 selection flat out wrong in a decade? Pretty good if you ask me.

Malthouse got 2 or 3 wrong in his first 2 or 3 years. Let alone how many he got wrong over 12.

Those wouldnt be the only ones he got wrong in a decade, Dayle Gartlett springs to mind recently.

Their trading and FA pick ups won them 3 premiership, not even that much to do with drafting at the end of the day.

cloke has had his chance to leave on big money and chose to stay. do not believe he will go now.
even on record saying so late this season and the club says no, people trying to stir?
Correct. But if the price is overs ie swap with Lynch or first rounders 2015 and 2016 by Gold coast and he WANTS to leave why not

Well, Treloar is arguably the second biggest fish this year. I say arguably because one could make an argument for Yarran or Carlisle being the "bigger name" than Treloar. But on quality and future room for improvement, it's fairly easily Treloar.

The issue here is Gold Coast have put an offer in front of Cloke for more years and more money. It is not an issue about whether we should trade him or not. We don't want to. But if Cloke says he is leaving, which is an extremely remote chance of happening, then we have to get the best possible trade.
Huh? What? When did this happen? Is this hypothetical?

Cloke is contracted. But if they're really that desperate jaeger, their first pick, lynch and Ablett would fill the gaping void left in our 50.... That and they can pay abletts salary for the next 3-5 years for us.

Seriously though, is this real?

Top 2 targets for mine in 2016 are Hamish Hartlett and Tom Lynch. Get Treloar, Aish, then those 2 next year we would have to go bloody close in 2017.

I seriously doubt the story is true.
