Interesting from the Saints list manager Ameet Bains on Trade Radio today saying that they were well into talks with us and Nathan Freeman crossing over to the Saints compared to the talks with Carlisle. My question is, what are St Kilda offering do you think that makes him think we're in a position to deal Freeman off so easily?
I mean a third rounder is not enough IMHO for a top 10 pick whose had 2 years in the system and only has had a bad run of injuries preventing him from breaking into our best 22. They (Saints) must rate him enough to throw a nice contract at him yet by all reports (Experts on Trade Raddio today) stating that a 3rd rounder might be what the Pies will have to take.
That's piss weak if it happens our clubs put a bucket load of work into this kid. As a Collingwood member I'm going to be very disappointed if that's all we can garner for a guy whose got potentially another 10 years in the system. You don't get picked in the top 10 for nothing. In this case he potentially has.
Sorry to say but you have no imagination if you believe that Collingwood will except a 3rd round pick for Freeman. Given how Collingwood rate this years draft and if that is what StKilda are offering then Freeman and StKilda can take their chances in the draft, as that will be the only way they will acquire Freeman.
As I have stated previously future picks could potentially come into play and I am not sure if the future pick will go Essendon's way our ours.
I would like to see us offer Freeman and pick 7 for picks 5 and 24 and then give pick 5 to GWS for Treloar and possibly a 3rd rounder.
We could then improve our draft position by trading picks 24 and 26 to Sydney for picks 14 and 33. Given how shallow the draft is Sydney may be keen to offload pick 33 otherwise their next pick is at 51.
