This board is actually hilarious. Some Collingwood poster says a rumour about X coming to Collingwood and all the responses you get is "source?" "where's proof" etc etc. Some random poster from another board asks about sidebottoms value and this place loses their shit without even talking about the source.

Fwiw on the rumour front, let's be serious, Sidey is 24, extremely durable and our best transition player which Buckley bases his game plan on. He's in our leadership group and has a year left on his deal. Not a chance in hell the club would entertain trading sidebottom unless something extremely tempting was coming our way, such as a first round pick and Ben brown. But north wouldn't do that.

Then, sidebottom is at one of the youngest playing groups in the league with a huge amount of upside about to be boosted by adding Adam Treloar. North Melbourne are the pensioners of the afl about to go into a 5-6 year finals exodus. Why would he want to go there again?

We will need to fill the spots freed up from departing players.
Prefer not to use anything after pick 30 if the draft is as weak as they say.
Treloar, two first rounders, frost upgrade , Aish?= 5 players (delisted FA? Two from port?)
Freeman, seedsman, Kennedy, Oxley?, Keeffe, Thomas, young, Dwyer,

Goodness me. We discuss every player from every team as possible trade bait and demand the club get the trade done and then a supporter from another team comes on and asks a question of hypothetically what Sidey would be worth and the page goes into meltdown. Why is it that people can't have a discussion of any player on our list?

I agreed with you all the way there Ketchup until you hit us with a slap in the face, Ben Brown? I assume you didn't watch the prelim? Otherwise a very good and reassuring post.

Doubt anything in the teens would cut it. He was a pick 10 and already has out performed that rating. His prime coming up over the next few years.

Single figure 1st rounder and someone like Garner.
Unless Sidey is demanding a trade, I would only respond if the offer was a top 5, or a top 10 and a significant player.

BUT - I have no idea where this talk of Sidey came from, and would be absolutely shocked if we wanted to leave, or that we would want to trade him.

First Round Pick & Mullet for Sidebottom?
Well he is out of contract at the end of next year so it would depend on how happy he is at the pies. If he is content you would have to dynamite him out ie big contract and first rounder and a very good player.

If he was unhappy then maybe a bit less and with treloar on the way on a big contract his nose might be out of joint a bit.

If we were to trade him I suspect we would be after omeara from the Suns.

That said there is no way I can see him being let go as he is one of our few outside runners who can use the ball.

Ps mullet will be delisted in due course he is worthless in a trade

Unbelievable that Melbourne would have picked Kennedy at four if Toumpas wasn't availabkle. Was that the same draft as Ollie Wines?
Thats why the have spent the better part of a decade at the bottom of the ladder.

Steele Sidebottom is about to have a break-out year, bookmark it. He will move his game to elite, he'll be mentioned alongside, Pendles, Beams, and Swan but he'll be a unique player though, he'll be Steele Sidebottom, just a better more consistent version. The past two seasons has all the hallmarks of this next step up.

Yes but the drummer from Def Leppard has only got one arm.
True. Was one of the best drummers going around before he drove his Corvette through a brick wall.

Back on topic. Toumpas? Naaaah. I'd be happy to use one of these 20-something picks we look like getting on a crafty, crumbling small forward. After the pandemonium of best available mids and talls, there are more often than not some handy smalls to be had in the 20s. It's such a glaring need for us.

I was only engaging in conversation as it was a discussion point put forward. People getting all worked up about it is really if no interest to me as it is a hypothetical in a trade thread.

On the matter at hand your view on what it would take is close to mine

They can, but he/she suggested a trade of pick 15 + Mullett, that is unders in anyone's language. If you are gonna discuss an opposition player on an opposition board you need to suggest a trade that's either fair or a little in favour of opposition team or you will get flooded with annoyed replies like that poster did. This is the way every team board operates.

Is anyone else going through information withdrawal? The closest we have had to new information in more than a week was Balme dodging questions on SEN before the grand final, making it sound like we had something else in the works.
