What other teams?
Yep. Won't be happening. Straight from Bucks' mouth. That's good enough for me.

Wouldn't clarify on any of WHE, Dal Santo, Mayne, Wells etc. Said we are very interested in a couple of them but not others.

In other words, wait till after the trade before judging where the club is heading to. So far the dads army tag is overrated.

The media especially FHeads Barrett, Ling, Lloyd & Carey, trying to figure out Collingwood, this is why Bucks will be a great coach. he basically confirmed Harvey out but gave them nothing about the rest. Perfect!

My gut feel is we will pick up wells and WHE. Im 50/50 on Mayne. I think he can fill a hole and id be happy enough to recruit him, but wont lost too sleep if we dont.

I reckon Geelong are still right in the hunt for wells though.

No it isn't. It's what would make him a fantastic Football Manager!

What will make him a great coach is if he can find the ability to build a winning game plan, have 40 blokes buy into that plan and execute it. In his five years so far it hasn't happened and time is running out.

Could see both sides of bringing in Boomer so not fussed that we don't bring him in.

We need experience and should be looking at Wells. Lots of really good performances in the second half of the year but lots of poor ones too, thinking of Richmond here, and that is what we get with youth. A sprinkling of some more experience should even out that inconsistency.

I'm guessing that is what they are looking for in Mayne. If they want to go with Cox and Moore then someone with experience and knowledge of structures is important. I'm not sure I'd bring him in, I'd look to move one or both of Sidebottom and Greenwood forward, but I can I guess understand the reasoning if he does indeed join us.

WHE on the other hand is young and has talent. If he gets it right then he comes along for the ride with all our other youngsters.

Cloke for Jong straight swap still a chance then?

To be honest, if the Dogs take over his contract and we don't have to pay any salary, then Jong is worth more to them than Cloke is to us. We have to offer something more than Cloke based on current output of both. Simply we are trying to get them to take a player who can't get a gig in a 11th placed side and they have a player that if it wasn't for a broken collar bone could potentially be playing in a premiership side today. Who do you think has more currency right now?

lulz, if someone who's been on the moon for few years without internet access reads this post they will assume we're like on the outskirts of top 4 and need a slight lift to break through...

And then they'd get a tap on the shoulder from me with the sobering reminder that our ladder position and win/loss ratio have been getting uglier by the year.
On the verge of success my arse.
You do realise that the Bulldogs have finished 4, 13, 15, 15, 14, 6, 7 over past seven years. We started our rebuild a few years behind them. Similar story re Weagles a few years ago. No reason we can't be contending like them in a few years if core group of next generation (Treloar, Adams, Grundy, DeGoey, Moore, Aish, Maynard, Shaz, Elliott) stay on the park.

Things never as good as they seem, never as bad as they seem either.

Just look at the slingshot of teams formline like Port, GWS as well as the Dogs in recent years to see that a team's good form can occur very rapidly if things go right.

The salary cap is the kicker unless he's taking 50% of his market value to be part of a dynasty it won't happen. That said the deal is bonkers good for GWS.

With Fyfe they win it in 2017 no ifs buts or maybe's they have 3 first rounders in this draft before they trade Marchbank and people think it's overs? If I were Fremantle I'd be saying that a contracted Fyfe is worth Patton + Pickett + 5 + 7 to GWS.

Even then it doesn't hurt GWS with two first round picks remaining plus Lobb and Cameron up forward!

GWS would rightly tell them to kindly fork off.

Of the clubs that have done it recently did they have 5 consecutive years of regression before the jump?

IMO, we have the talent for it, but we won't because we aren't good enough off-field.
I love the 5 years of regression comments. We went from 1st, to top 4 to top 8 after winning a premiership. The only way we didn't go down was by magically not needing a rebuild. We have had 2 poor years and rebuilt with a great list. Like you said, we have the talent to challenge in next two years. We disagree on coaching but either way i back the club to recruit as if we are a top 4 chance next year.

I'd be stoked to see Wells run in Pies colours for the next couple of years. No doubt in my mind he fills a key need, being a classy outside mid and really clean in delivering the ball inside 50. Makes our midfield and half forward mix a lot more interesting and dangerous as we have a serious lack of options on the outside: Crisp is traditionally an inside mid and has struggled on a wing, Sidebottom is a very good player but not the best at delivering I50 so could do with more time at half forward and Broomhead fits the bill but has barely played in two years.

Yes Wells will be 32 at the start of next season, but he is coming off a really strong year. He's had his best ever season for contested possessions, clearances, tackles, disposal efficiency and second best ever for overall disposals. If the contract length is 2 years + possibly a trigger for a third and we're confident in his injuries not re-occuring it is actually a no-brainer.
I could say Aish could do that. Only thing he does not have that Wells has is Speed.

Be Intresting what we do with the 3 main Wingman in Steele,Aish and Wells

He's signed with Collingwood. Geelong are going all out for Deledio.
