So that statement by the club was a bit vague. He's asked to return home. Does he want to be traded? Is he giving up footy? Does he just need time and the club is hopeful he'll return?

I'm so confused...

Don't know mate, 18 touches, 6.5 tackles, and a goal a game is a pretty fair return from a tagger, hardly poor you would think.
But then you dig a little deeper. Only 11 of those disposals were effective, which is magnified further by recording just 7 contestee possessions per game, despite being predominantly mid all year he averaged just 2.3 clearances (our weakest area) and he had just 6 goal assists across the season.

Sure if the tag hadn't gone the way of the dodo he'd be ok through the middle, but judging him by 2016 standards his season was poor. It even provides a snapshot of why we were poor as a team.

Yes there might be a future for him in a forward defensive role, but if he remains in the midfield moving forward he won't be best 22 by the bye next year. He'd be wise to explore his options.

Not good, Marsh has shown some very good attributes this year. Raw but can be a very good defender in the future. I thought he was staying for sure with him showing his gratefulness of Collingwood VFL coaches or whatever.

Well the articles on Twitter say "Marsh requests trade back to WA " so hopefully that's right...

There are no other teams.
Gibbs will get traded this is why.

Gibbs and his partner just recently had a child, This wasn't planned, Gibbs has been struggling balancing being a father and party boy, has done alot of late night drunk text to mates, his partner is also struggling with having to do alot of the work by herself.

They both decided it was best to move back to Adealide where both families live so they can get some support.

He has a valid reason to return home.
His valid reason is his boy is getting in the way of his partying?

Hope he can sort out his personal life.

Also hope he's as over rated by West coast clubs as he is on this board.

Would much rather keep him but don't think this will be anywhere near as bad as people think

Shattering news.

Although not a direct replacement, i think we should be looking heavily into Ricky henderson as a free agent.

Also, eric mckenzie looks a must get for us, or mitch brown as a "break glass here in case of emergency"

Neither freo or west coast have picks in the top 30...so best case is a straight swap for mckenzie or west coasts pick 34
